Yo hice una vez una traducción de prueba de una extensión similar con una editorial que me gusta mucho (sin remunerar, obviamente) y eso condujo a una colaboración muy intensa hasta el día de hoy. Llevo años traduciendo un libro tras otro para esa editorial y tenemos una relación muy sólida.
Supongo que depende de cada caso. Si es una editorial con la que te interesa mucho establecer una relación a largo plazo (y la cosa tiene potencial) supongo que no es tan descabellado. En traducción literaria es difícil demostrar lo que vales en sólo 500/1000 palabras.

Gefeliciteerd! Ik maakte de overstap gisteren en ik vond het ook best spannend. Het is niet een, twee, drie geregeld. Op een gegeven moment was ik in paniek omdat ik dacht dat al mijn data verloren was. Maar ik zit nu op Eurosky en dat voelt goed 😇
