I’m also really into software, beyond just front-end. I like reading about new architectures, clever implementations, and how people build and ship products.

Pretty much anything! I’m really into gardening and play football regularly to stay active.

You have to anticipate how technical decisions will ripple through the entire product ecosystem.
It’s not just about writing good code or building nice UIs, it’s about understanding how architecture choices affect user experience, team delivery, and product scalability down the line.

Our UI development environment (ot-ui-apps).
It’s been the foundation for numerous new features, such as Associations on the Fly or the quick development of genetics-related page widgets. It has streamlined our development process, improved code consistency, and enabled better project collaboration
It’s been amazing to experience a different culture and gain a new perspective on work-life balance.
And for sure, fruits are not the same!
Moving from Costa Rica was quite an adjustment. Going from consistent tropical weather to seasonal cycles meant I had to adapt my daily routines; it was a lot of effort.
There is something rewarding about knowing that the code and data we develop can be used, improved, and accessed by researchers globally.
I want to build tools that combine software and product engineering with meaningful scientific impact.
And it’s amazing to see how the Open Targets Platform contributes to biological research.
I’m the Lead Front-End Engineer at Open Targets, where I develop and maintain the Open Targets Platform, making genomic and therapeutic data accessible to researchers.
Glad they were open for a conversation/debate. As costarican living in UK, this is a constant situation I have lived
