this is kind of where i'm at too. i love animation--it's my biggest passion in the world, it's the dream that brought me out of poverty against all odds. but it's not even just about the ai stuff for me--it's about the hierarchies baked into the industry that push women, lgbtq and other-
Piddle in a cloudy sky, they are wearing a bow around their neck along with that they have a set of angel wings with a halo
people always go "it's Star Wars, it's Marvel, it's Sonic, it's Digital Circus, it's the specific franchise that's the problem" no it's just fandom
ever notice how every giant fandom becomes a toxic cesspool full of drama and resentment towards the creator of the work they're all obsessing over, hmm almost like centering your life around a piece of media is not healthy
ya i think the tweet its self is out of context (i saw the full context long after my qrt) which is super lame on toonhive's end tbh
*corroborate not correlate sry, ultimately I think I'm just going off on the issue I have with parasocial "fandom" behavior as a whole and am thinking about multiple examples of this kind of behavior (some of which I have personally been subjected to) with this as a launching point
is that right? I was reading about it on the TDAC reddit as well which seemed to correlate with what this thread was about, with accounts from moderators of the subreddit...
LITERALLY like i dread the fact that no matter how carefully i construct stories, someone's going to be foaming at the mouth angry with me because i didn't cater to their exact hyperspecific projection fantasies. genuinely insane
there is more to storytelling than ships, tropes, and projection
which hey, sorry to tell you: I really don't think that's healthy. at all. fiction CAN be an escape for many people, but if that's ALL fiction can be for you--and not only that, but if that's what you do with ALL fiction--idk dude
expanding on this: i think the issue is that a lot of people treat media as something to project themselves/their own desires onto as opposed to an art piece you're supposed to engage with as is, and this is how we end up with people threatening ppl over things not going the way they want it to
like at the end of the day its a cartoon. the person you're sending threats and harassment to is a human being. you are putting your relationship with the cartoon as higher importance as the way your actions affect an actual human being.
this is kind of what i mean when i talk about people having parasocial relationships with the media they consume. it's one thing to have opinions and criticisms (which everyone should have, even of their favorite things!)--it's another to send waves of harassment to the people creating the thing.
like i specifically remember the feeling of being in my early career and watching people's eyes glaze over with disinterest when I hadn't gotten industry work yet--and seeing how different that reaction was after I got my first FT gig sflkhsfd very inhuman feeling
this is something i've noticed a lot in industry spaces and i wish i knew what the solution is but it does feel very dehumanizing and im sorry you had this experience TT
Bluesky should not get into this idea that blocking you is a problem. You can be blocked for any reason. You can be blocked because your pfp is annoying. You can be blocked because your vibe sucks.
If you take this personally I think thatβs also a reason you can be blocked.
RIGHT OMG it is so cute and fun LOL I'm so happy I was able to find one in this kind of style!!
RIGHT I literally was like "drop everything we gotta go NOW" to my partner SFDLKHSDF
I WAS BLESSED!!

Insane late night FB Marketplace find last night, literally stoked, I've been wanting a fun CRT for ages
art being a form of communication is also why i think it's important to consider what that art is trying to say sdlfhksfd
i think people forget that art is a form of communication. like enjoying the process is absolutely a part of it, but ultimately art is created to communicate ideas and feelings to other people, so ofc people can feel let down/frustrated when their messages aren't heard or being received
omg that genuinely sounds like you had a great time LOL
yeppppp. i think the era of the interconnected web has been over for quite a long time. it is a tool of isolation more than anything lately imo
Bluesky was literally meant to be a cryptobro social network for grifters, LinkedIn sludge, and libertarians who know way too much about age of consent laws.
Jack Dorsey *left* when instead of weird and off-putting cryptonerds, trans people started hanging out here.
same... same sdlkfhsdflkhsfd
Talk to your neighbors. Go to community events. It doesn't matter if they aren't deeply familiar with the obscure fandom you're obsessed with or the specific internet lore you can't get off your mind. You will find that the commonalities you do have with them are much more human
