You must wishlist it on steam (now!!!)

If I know someone uses Grok, I instantly lose any respect for them. It's not even because of Musk. It's just the name already... sounds like the Tinder equivalent for orcs to meet for some fun in Mordor. Or cyclops or some shit

Xbox Executives Were Blown Away by an Upcoming Game. Then They Canceled It. Blackbird, a new game from ZeniMax Online Studios, impressed Xbox boss Phil Spencer earlier this year

NEW: In March, Xbox boss Phil Spencer was so impressed by the demo of a Zenimax game codenamed Blackbird that Matt Booty had to tell him to stop playing so the meeting could continue. Yesterday, they canceled it.

Inside one of Xbox's most shocking cancellations: www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...

Thankfully, those people are most likely not actual devs, meaning people who live and breathe this shit. Actual devs know the price. Artists know the price. These kids don't. Adobe suite alone costs 66€ a month

KI kann alles, KI weiß alles und KI wird immer besser. Ausnahmslos. Ich schÀtze das wir schon 2030 in einer Matrix-Àhnlichen Welt leben werden. 2030 will Deutschland übrigens auch DSL abschalten. Mal gucken was wir zuerst erreichen.

Bike users are really the worst. First, they get on the bike, and then they even ride it! Obnoxious people, let me tell you. Hoorah to AI defending the innocent citizens of Toronto

Greetings, travelers! ✨

It's time for a repost. This illustration of the Paladin Class Hall is from 2022, one of my very first attempts at making a full 3D environment of an in-game location in a semi-realistic style πŸ’œ

Really beautiful. Don't know what it is. It doesn't have tons of detail but just works great on an artistic level. Envious of that, I lose myself too often in the unnecessary details.

You actually repost a lot of stuff (mine included for some reason), and I'm really thankful for that. Through you alone, I find a lot of nice art posts. You set a good example, keep on keeping on!

Seems like it. Or baked interiors and realtime exteriors. I've seen somebody once work on a system that exchanges the light maps based on day time, including lerping the lightmaps so there wouldn't be too hard a transition. Increases disk size by a huge amount though.

Interesting. I'm definitely of the opinion that nothing beats baked lighting. How do you deal with blending baked with non baked assets or day/night cycle? I feel like this aspect is not talked about at all, especially from professionals

17.05.2025 17:21 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

Honest question: What stops you from using lumen while developing and then using baked light for production?

Do you have any recommendations regarding performance, be it your own or tutorials you can recommend?

It really is crazy how such a large industry is basically dependent on a single software from decades ago. The interface, to this day, feels like the most accurate representation of how interacting with a 4 dimensional device from another galaxy would be like.

Possible, however that was true before. People want to like AAA, there is nothing wrong with a big budget. That's where most casuals are at, arguably the biggest group. If you haven't been mostly indie now, I don't think the price difference will change that. We'll see how this plays out.

02.05.2025 19:26 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

On paper, games becoming more expensive just to keep up with inflation makes sense. But I think why most people dislike the sudden increase is because they have been dissatisfied with the industry for a long time now. Tech in general. Now, the same buggy, soulless AAA is just pricier.

Focusing on "long-term strategies" means do as before, just with fewer people. Veilguard sold 50% behind expectation? Just lay off 50% of the people, and you have your losses recouped!
