There will never be such a place because creating it would require attention to more than just the technology of the platform, it would also require sensitivity to how moderation as a social practice shapes the environment, and an awareness of a history of how the affordances shape that environment.
Anyway, to circle back around to the main point. BlueSky might be uniquely shitty in some ways, but so is EVERY OTHER FUCKING PLATFORM. The unique ways in which platforms are shitty are grounded in the organization of the digital environment, including social practices of moderation.
I should also point out that George Washington could very well have been 'King' had he chose to be. But, he did not. He wanted to create a new government which was not a monarchy or successive monarchies. He wanted an educated country of people who could select their own leaders (as did his peers).
