Thank you for reading! I have been slowly working on this comic since #HourlyComicDay and I finally finished yesterday.

I try to keep this account mostly focused on my art instead of myself, but here's most of why posts have been few and far between lately.

Thanks to our hyper capitalist culture in America, I'm having a difficult time with shedding my internalized ableism and accepting that my limits are very low."

The artist has forced themself to sit back up. Caption, "Even though answers are not a cure, they have led to something else: treatment. I am so incredibly lucky to have a team of mental and physical therapists trying to help me manage my multiple conditions."

Caption, "I actually have a support network now. Several friends and colleagues that understand the struggle, and confused but supportive family. I also have two wonderful partners that are more caring than I thought possible." The artist is holding two orbs in their hands that are radiating energy and have rough portraits of two different people inside. One person orb is saying, "You definitely do enough." The other one says, "You work yourself way too hard!" The artist is blushing from the encouragement.

"Things are so much better than they were before. All of our bills get paid every month and we have our last big expense from when we were homeless almost paid off. But I'm still not better." The artist is drawn very tiny.

The artist is drawn so small that they are difficult to see. Caption, "My part-time job pays some bills, but puts me in debilitating pain. The multiple mental illnesses plus the burnout make it difficult to accomplish any art or personal task. I've been struggling to get things done. For so long, the only way things would change is if I made it happen. My instincts keep saying if I 'just push through the pain' that I can get more done. A response question haunts me."

The question, "But can you actually?" has appeared in such huge, strong letters that the power of the phrase has knocked the artist over.

The artist still sits disappointed but has been drawn a little smaller. Caption, "I'm also struggling with intense burnout right now. I've been trying to run my own art business for almost a decade. I've had lots of growth and some success - not anywhere enough to live or support me."

The artist is even smaller now. Caption, "Several years ago, we were homeless. It was a stressful time I've never had a break to recover from. I've been in non-stop grind mode every since to try and better our living situation."

The artist is drawn so small you can barely see the paper. Caption, "I found us a place to live. Sold a bunch of small things. Sold our only assets. I got a part-time job. I signed up for food assistance. I got us a cheaper place to live. I saved a little money. I had surgeries and used all of those savings. All of these things happened while I barely managed my disabilities and attempted to run my business."

Black fur and white fur are always difficult to paint in watercolor, but I love how it turned out! It makes the gibbon really stand out against the painted trees. ✨
