Doing more #Godot the enemies can now hurt the player for various damage which I can set. The skeleton walkers don’t like to fall off platforms so it’s like they are patrolling. And we have a flying skull that can patrol, I’m going to edit his animations too #GodotEngine #GameDev #SoloDev #IndieDev

#Godot #GodotEngine update I was preparing a video to share with my Skool, I uncovered a little bug in the game - if you get invincibility frames after hitting an enemy, the lava pits don’t kill you and you just fall through them! #GameDev #SoloDev #IndieDev bonus #Dog #DogPics

Level 1 complete. Different to watch I initially imagined, I took the instructors idea and changed it a bit. Tired now and want to play Resident Evil Requiem #Godot #GodotEngine #SoloDev #GameDev #IndieDev

Almost done now. We have sounds, music, a start menu, a finishing screen…just need to make two new levels, and this will be good to export. Next project is looking to be FPS #Godot #GodotEngine #GameDev #IndieDev #SoloDev

I’ve joined “Skool” and there is a “Godot Academy” by instructor Kaan Alpar - he’s made lots of YouTube tutorials (of which I’ve done many) and he’s even done a few GameDev.tv courses. I think it’s still in early access but it’s worth the money, and you get the message Kaan too which is useful

Godot game development screenshot in Godot 4.6 showing NES style graphics, where the player character, a girly haired protagonist armed with a huge sword that would make Cloud Strife jealous, faces off against a purple skeleton enemy
Godot game development screenshot in Godot 4.6 showing a pixelated NES-style purple skeleton enemy that I made today because I’m great
Working on my Faxanadu-clone, I think I might just use different coloured skeletons for this, might use some different monsters I’ll have to check the assets #Godot #GodotEngine #GameDev #SoloDev #IndieDev

I think instructor saw I caught up and added some more lectures. Items are now displayed on the HUD, player respawns after dying, we have one way platforms, and I’ve even made a little level which I think shows you how to play the game #Godot #GodotEngine #GameDev #SoloDev #IndieDev

A single panel cartoon. Moominpapa leans over a newspaper on a table, holding an empty glass. Snufkin is seated on the opposite side of the table, head in hands, puffing on his pipe disconsolately.
Moomonpapa says to Snufkin: 'Tell us all that'a happening out in the world!'
Snufkin replies: 'Fuss and misery..'

Caught up with the instructor for this tutorial! 💅
Player had three items they can pick up - they can’t shoot or double jump until they get these items. There is also a health pickup you can get which increases health. Love this course, love the #GodotEngine #Godot #Gamedev #IndieDev #SoloDev

An incredibly thrilling pixelated game development screenshot in Godot 4 in which the player character faces off against a crab, a flying eyeball and a puffy little orange enemy in a gloomy dungeon looking place. Nobody ever reads these descriptions I don’t know why I bother.
Player character has a health bar that works, they explode when they run out of health. There are two completed enemies and I’m working on a final shooting one #Godot #GodotEngine #GameDev #SoloDev #IndieDev

Godot 4 development screenshot of a bitchin’ looking 8-bit Metroidvania game in which the daring longhaired protagonist with a very Cloud Strife two-handed sword faces against the bleak expanse of the void itself
As well as doing my #Godot tutorial it was suggested to me to put together a small version of a classic game from my childhood - Faxanadu. Took a while to find remotely suitable assets (settled for a metroidvania one) but it’s coming along #GodotEngine #GameDev #SoloDev #IndieDev

Game development screenshot of Godot 4.6 showing a player character (a pixelated dog type thing in a hazmat suit) with his gun out facing off against two enemy crabs with BIG MEATY CLAWS
Player projectiles disappear, player and enemy can take damage and get deleted when they receive enough, enemies also walk left/right depending on terrain. Quite an update!

A Godot 4 development screenshot showing the player character bracing a pistol and shooting to the right
Player character now shoots - direction of shot is determined by the way they are facing, and they can’t move whilst shooting. You don’t think about this when playing games but damn it requires a lot of coding #Godot #GodotEngine #GDScript #GameDev #SoloDev #IndieDev

Quick update
Now have a laser, and an “instancer” script which will help with that as well as the dust on the ground when the player lands. I’ll post a cutesy Zelda-clone update soon too

the 1993 movie sandlot was set in 1962 so if it were made today with the same offset it'd be set in 1995, 2 years after the movie's release. pretty wild right. ok bear with me this next one is even better. the 1994 movie clerks was set in 1994, so if that movie was made today it would be set in 2026

I’m no longer trudging through tutorials, they are now references. I don’t have answers now, I’m currently working on a small Zelda clone. The dream is to do a Faxanadu clone at some point in #Godot #GodotEngine #GameDev #SoloDev #IndieDev Any idea for spritesheets similar to Faxanadu?
