I am really good at sabotaging my own social life.
I love the sound of snow falling on a hard shell.
Weβre building the slop stack now.
Leadership declares that we must use LLMs to solve problems. We reach the conclusion that some problems would be more appropriately solved with simpler solutions like deterministic scripts. We use LLMs anyway because it isnβt optional. Great use of resources.
@ret The AI usage will continue until productivity improves.
Anthropic outage at the beginning of this week is justβ¦ [chefβs kiss]
I also donβt understand why companies, especially mine, would voluntarily build out new workflows on top of these third party services with no future availability or cost guarantees.
A man steps back to look at his work as he paints a view of Mount Rainier and part of the cityscape on the sundeck at Pike Place Market. The man is wearing a white short sleeve shirt, dark long pants, white shoes, and a watch on his left wrist. He is standing behind a painting apparatus mounted on a tripod that holds the painting and materials. A roll of paper towels and a paint brush are in his left and right hands. The Seattle Great Wheel, Lumen Field, and T-Mobile Park are visible in the background. Behind them, Mount Rainier is visible.

Iβm so tired
@fp32 I donβt think thereβs a universally accepted right way. The resulting coating is oil that has polymerized from heating for an extended period of time. My understanding is that it is a function of heat and time such that a temperature below the smoke point of the oil works if given more [β¦]
Weβve now been told to stop work next week to focus on AI tools and workflows. Not like we have a schedule with consequential deadlines related to manufacturing or anything like that.
This job was a dream when I started almost a decade ago. It was a legitimate joy pre-covid. The deterioration [β¦]
Photo of Malmo City Hall (Malmo Radhus) as seen from the far side of the Trogbrunnen in the Grand Market Square. The building has two stories not including the basement, 11 bays, and currently has an ornate Dutch Renaissance-style facade. Six flag poles are mounted on the plaza in a line parallel to the building and grouped evenly on either side of the center. The fountain in front is made up of patinated bronze sculptures that relate to the history of the city.

I find it amusing that the leaks I see at work are more often than not published by furries.
I suppose itβs possible that the VPs know this is bullshit themselves and just think they have to do it anyway.
Hmm. Mastodon generates a nice looking card, as expected. Bsky is using some pixelated image...
Finally dogified https://wren.dog and uploaded all the new artwork.
Had some fun implementing a pure-CSS content filter using the :has() selector.
Brought to you after 2am by pseudoephedrine (oops).
A modern high rise building adjacent to water with shorter buildings on either side. The building is comprised of four square columns which each slightly taller than the previous, creating a stepped appearance at the top. Balconies extend from all sides. The building is predominantly white with brown panels on walls behind the balconies. The surface of the water is moderately smooth with some ice near the seawall. The building is reflected in the surface of the water.

[uspol, state of the union]
Taking an awkard number of minutes of applause after talking about deporting immigrants and then chanting βU S Aβ in the house of representatives chamber certainly is a look.
[uspol, tariffs]
Mention of FedEx suing over tariffs is what triggered this. Compensation for lost business due to the tariffs? Sure. Compensation for the actual tariffs? Not unless every cent goes back to the consumers.
Ah, yes. Back to work where VPs are spending more time churning out slop code and slop posts about it than making durable decisions. Thereβs definetly an echo chamber effect going on where nobody wants to say anything negative about AI βpubliclyβ internally.
[uspol, tariffs]
No business should get a refund on tariffs that consumers ultimately paid unless it is passed back to the consumers.
[for bsky users]
A note for the new followers I seem to have picked up while at NFC: This bsky account is bridged from the fediverse. I am not able to follow bsky accounts that are not similarly bridged.
See the instruction at the end of the bio for this bsky account or https://fed.brid.gy/.
GE lanes at SEA are closed, as expected. Walked right through MPC, though.
Photo of a Lufthansa Airbus A330-300 parked at a remote stand from rear port corner on the ground. The plane is almost entirely white except for the blue Lufthansa branding on the fuselage and tail. Mobile stairways are positioned at the front and rear port side doors. The tarmac is wet from rain while the sky is light blue with a layer of white stratus clouds.

I love how well this works as an avatar.
[uspol, trusted traveler programs]
So Noem is now punishing everyone by suspending trusted traveler programs (PreCheck, GE, NEXUS) for congress not passing funding. This has not been done during past shutdowns and is clearly vindictive. They better crucify her.

View from the Malmo Live roof terrace looking west down the canal at night after a fresh dusting of snow. The canal is frozen over with an even layer of snow on top. The road on the far side and promenade on the near side are well lit.
