Its been a few years since I did any keyframe creature animation, so my most recent personal project has been exactly that :)
I referenced Daniel Fotheringhamβs quadruped blog quite a bit while learning his workflow, it was a lot of fun :)

It takes a lot practice, but one thing I do that really helps is when I am polishing I put motion trails on the important parts of the body. Period so in this animation, for example, I tracked the arcs of the head, the chest and the hips to make sure all of them were moving fluidly.
His whole blog is full of fantastic advice. I couldnt have made this shot without it
