The dramatic aerial perspective shows snow-covered mountain ranges (including the Alaska Range), the Yukon River, and the vast wilderness these mushers and their dog teams traverse over approximately 1,000 miles. This is the Northern Route visualized from space with the camera moved so far back that a large part of the curvature of the earth is showing - just to be able to see the whole track in one picture.
