Can you start from a stock Invision Community 5 installation and have it themed, customized, and a new homepage built in under an hour without relying on custom templates and coding?
Can you start from a stock Invision Community 5 installation and have it themed, customized, and a new homepage built in under an hour without relying on custom templates and coding?
The main concept for Invision Community 5 was to reduce the complexity of power-user tools like theming and page building and build new tools to help busy community teams organise, moderate and identify trusted members.
Did we achieve that?
X is really circling hell now. Elon sharing anti vaccine memes. Outright hatred and racism everywhere from blue tick accounts.
Ugly and awful.
This is the path that meant I had to take a 4km diversion on my run today. π
Yes yes a thousand yeses! This aligns with my thinking exactly.
Exactly that. Good case is helping moderate and semi-auto moderation. Case against is when used to create content or falling into the trap of using bots for βengagementβ.
Going to write an article titled something like βthe case for, and the case against AI in communities.β What would you like to see covered?
A heron standing still on a grass bank.
Met a friend during my run today.
Bluesky or Threads? π€
Youβve gotta give Elon Musk some credit: Sure, he transformed Twitter into a haven for misinformation where the worst people on earth can pay to be first in your replies, but at least it doesnβt work
I really want to put Invision Community on ATproto.
I'll pop a few turmeric caps to loosen my joints, and I'll grab my sword.
I am very curious about open web. Being old enough to remember web-rings and sharing services meant content got around but not beholden to a single service. Going back there with a modern tech stack is the way.
100% agree. @rosiesherry.bsky.social has found a way for Slack + forums to work. Deep content for the forum. Some topics are picked up again months later, and that's OK.
I'm in!
I've been in the forum industry for nearly 25 years and they still persist. They are much calmer for sure.
Awwww. I miss the baby days! Mine are 7 and 15 now.
I am enjoying this phase of Bluesky's lifecycle before the hustlers and grifters show up with threads and templates.
Being an adult means non-stop side quests.
Iβve found my people.
My twitter timeline is full of people asking for invite codes. Iβve used the only two I had. Who can I persuade to get me a reload? π
Yes. It is.
I'm now "verified" and it took a few minutes to add a TXT entry to a domain DNS I own.
This is a much better system. DNS is pretty secure and a great way to verify people.
Mostly using the "What's hot" tab and scrolling a lot :D
There's definitely a tipping point happening now! I'd say 40% of those I interact with daily or follow closely are here. Lets hope they post and it continues to grow.
Today has brought a huge number of Twitter people I follow and interact with over. It's starting to feel like it is getting traction.
This is the way.
FWIW, I signed up with Mastodon months ago and can't log back in because I forgot which server I joined with. π€£
The Bluesky web app is very stable
