Table compares release cadence across four major version series. The changelog entries/week column circled in orange shows a roughly 12x increase over the course of a year — from 6.6 in version 0.2 (Feb 2025) to 14.5 in 1.0, 21.6 in 2.0, and 81.9 in 2.1 (Jan 2026).

Did Claude Code auto /compact get fast and actually good when I wasn't looking?

I've now had multiple sessions where Claude Code worked smoothly across multiple auto-compact operations, and I barely noticed they happened.

If I can trust this, it changes everything.

I even used to help companies get up to speed on AWS when AWS did not offer direct support to customers in any way (hard to imagine today).

At one point AWS even sent a customer to me when the customer needed urgent help with an AWS project.

I tend to pitch in for a while when I see a vacuum in a growing space, and then others take over and do a better job, so I get to retire and look for other opportunities to help.

For example, do you have various coding projects that use the same programming language in inconsistent ways, and want to clean them up to conform to a specific set of central standards?

I suspect that may be a lot easier with the help of AWS Transform custom.

I'm excited to try it.

And, AWS Transform custom should be one of those general purpose frameworks that can be used for things AWS never imagined, far beyond "upgrading software versions".

Maybe I can finally upgrade that AWS Lambda function running Node 0.10 since 2014.

If you've been running systems for more than a couple years, you've got legacy code that probably needs to be upgraded, refreshed, or refactored.

"AWS Transform custom" (yes, the name is lowercase, because AWS thrives on naming inconsistencies) makes some pretty exciting claims.

My room has higher CO2 ppm coming out of the ventilation than the last couple years. Perhaps they are recirculating more and bringing in less fresh air. (Only one data point. Should not be taken as a hotel/casino-wide fact.)

I've been attending AWS re:Invent since the first one in 2012. E

Every year I notice changes as the organizers observe things they can improve from the previous year.

There should be no security bottleneck at Venetian check-in and badge pickup this year.

I did not have a new SQS Queue type on my bingo card, but here we are and they're very cool. SQS Fair Queues automatically balance multiple tenants (identified by their MessageGroupID), filtering out noisy neighbors. Love it when foundational services keep improving!

Messages from Claude Code (AI development tool):

You're absolutely right - I focused too narrowly on the "callback" implementation detail rather than understanding the actual need. Let me reconsider.

I've completely revised the NEW-TIMER-DESIGN.md document based on your insights. The key realization is that this isn't about sequential events, but rather concurrent message layers with priorities.

I'm tired of being "absolutely right".

Tell me when I'm wrong.

Tell me when I forgot to take something into account.

Tell me when I could consider another option.
