After due consideration I will not be running for congress, but will be running for the State House. This is because I believe the states are where the real resistance will be centered in the coming days.
Many of the ultra-wealthy are smart and hard working. But a lot of folks are, and they don't become multi-billionaires. Why not? Because they are not amoral, selfish, ruthless and willing to figuratively curb-stomp anyone that gets in their way. Because that's how you become a mega-billionaire.

Please don't tell me that by not voting you are taking a principled stand, because that's bullshit. You're abdicating your responsibility as a citizen and blaming others for the result. That's not principled; its consent by silence.
I'm running for congress in the 9th District in the state of Washington. I don't like my odds, but dammit I am going to try. I will not roll over and take it. We're in the middles of a fascist coup we need to stand up. So I am standing up. What are YOU going to do?
MAKE them do their jobs. We voted them into office to serve us. They are legally obliged to do so. Make them do it. Demand substantive, effective action. There are no more 'Politics as Usual.' That's over. They need to acknowledge that and act on that knowledge.
And don't just ask- demand answers. Meaningful answers, concrete steps they will take to address these problems. Don't let them wiggle out with form letters and platitudes.
Ask them what they are going to do to protect us from an autocratic, authoritarian federal government. How are they going to pay for education and infrastructure? What are they going to do when thousands of older people, disabled and veterans lose their Federal benefits?
Ask them how they are going to protect legal immigrant residents and members of marginalized communities. Ask what they are going to do when Federal agents in your state illegally detain citizens and legal residents without do process.
There's no soft pedaling this. We are in the middle of an authoritarian coup. It's succeeding and I don't see our elected representatives doing anything meaningful to stop it. Write to your State legislators. Ask what they are going to do to protect you from our Federal Government.
