this isn't about racism. the people mentioned in my post are not being anti-racist, they're just being shitty. there are poc who've been ran out of this fandom by these white people insisting their perspectives are invalid.

anyway goodnight folks. i will leave you with the following questions to Ponder: is it a clique or is it a group of people who chat and interact bc they’re friends who are nice to each other? and are they excluding you bc they’re mean or are they just not friends w you bc you make them feel unhappy?

people online are not entitled to your energy. you are not obligated to make space in your life for people you don’t know and who exhaust you. even if you think they probably mean well, nobody is owed your direct engagement and attention.

the bulk of the behavior that's running people off tumblr, also, is not even ostensibly about racism; it's stuff like constantly showing up to scold anyone who writes crackships, or who affectionately dunks on stede, or who mentions jack without pausing to specify that he's pure evil.

just like lyse, I have not been participating much in fandom lately because of these select few. even though they’ve been blocked and muted, tumblr doesn’t stop me from seeing them. they’ve driven me and other poc out of the fandom space there while championing that actually they are moral and good

I cannot stress enough how much my little ‘fandom is supposed to be fun’ self-reminder in the face of this bullshit got twisted by so many to imply I am racist/homophobic/transphobic for blocking people who have shitty opinions that I don’t want to see or engage with

this group accused me of ‘white fragility’ because when they were having disingenuous, circular conversations about fandom racism without listening to the poc (me and others!!!) around them, I blocked them and reiterated that fandom is supposed to be fun and isn’t supposed to make me feel this way
