umineko is definitely a "losing several weeks to" investment. unfortunately i am doing my english literature capstone so i can't afford to lose several weeks trying to read the original visual novel of umineko (i'm somewhere on question arc 2)
it's "higurashi: when they cry" and "umineko: when they cry" and now the newest is "ciconia: when they cry" but ciconia is on hiatus at the moment while ryukishi07 takes care of his mental health. there's also higanbana no saku yoru ni which is set in completely different universes
--(which is canonically how the relationship IS, it's just HET), would be really in character
and also beatrice is a trans woman canonically but that gets into MASSIVE spoiler territory for both the mystery and WHY beatrice exists at all. and yeah. beatrice wanting another trans girl to bond with on the island would make sense. so t4t beabato toxic yuri turning affirming--
but beatrice freeing him up to be a GIRL, like he'd probably desire to be in some routes, would genuinely help him. imo battler if he transitioned would still be a butch woman, she'd be wearing suits (just tailored women's 80s powersuits lol), and she'd still be an overemotional yet smart crybaby
but the relationship between battler and beatrice can only be described as "kinky miss tormenter" and "sad wet pathetic tormented guy". now, battler has already some trans aspects to him, such as not liking his birth name, "battler", which was chosen bc the family are westaboos.
so battler is basically the detective character. he's trying to prove that witches don't exist. he's trying to prove that these murders on the island where his family is gathering for a reunion to discuss the inheritance are 100 percent done by human hands (in the trick route, it CAN be done)
okay, so umineko is an episodic visual novel series written by ryukishi07, a former social worker, who wrote a series of episodic visual novels previously, called higurashi. there are two characters in this series named beatrice, who is the golden witch who is behind the mysteries, and battler.
i consider myself both an episcopalian now and a lot of our system considers ourselves panentheist regardless of whether each system member ids as christian or not (when it's not a christian fronting it's more "a holy light exists in everything") so...i'm not exactly sure what i believe

when will "The Crash, The Rapture, The Big One" happen? you're never going to hear of it. it's going to go like this: there is no dignity or joy of an explosive release, just an increasingly cataclysmic burn, thousands more murdered by empire in punctuated events, and life gets more difficult
