I remember watching Birth of a Nation as a young teen, my father saying it was an important film. By the end I was thoroughly disgusted and had recieved a sneaky little education on how utterly stupid, art-ruining, and DANGEROUS racism is.

umineko is definitely a "losing several weeks to" investment. unfortunately i am doing my english literature capstone so i can't afford to lose several weeks trying to read the original visual novel of umineko (i'm somewhere on question arc 2)

it's "higurashi: when they cry" and "umineko: when they cry" and now the newest is "ciconia: when they cry" but ciconia is on hiatus at the moment while ryukishi07 takes care of his mental health. there's also higanbana no saku yoru ni which is set in completely different universes
