There will be a special tour to the NSF VLA site and a visit to the Magdalena Ridge Observatory Interferometer (MROI) site.
There will be a special tour to the NSF VLA site and a visit to the Magdalena Ridge Observatory Interferometer (MROI) site.
The program will include discussion groups, and tutorials demonstrating data collection, calibration, and imaging of various types of observations, including new data from the VLA, VLBA, and ALMA.
The workshop will consist of a week of lectures on aperture synthesis theory and techniques at a level appropriate for graduate students in astrophysics, covering both radio interferometry fundamentals and state-of-the-art methods and techniques.
Do you want to become more proficient in radio astronomy? The NSF NRAO will be hosting the 21st Synthesis Imaging Summer Workshop in Socorro, New Mexico, from May 26th to June 3rd, 2026.

The goal of the CSWA Cohorts program is to establish topical peer groups that will continue these conversations virtually once a month. CSWA Cohorts are open to women and allies, regardless of gender, career stage, or background.
This program aims to connect people within and across career stages in astronomy and facilitate regular opportunities to solve problems and provide support to each other in challenging times and situations.
The AAS Committee on the Status of Women in Astronomy has kicked off a new networking initiative: the CSWA Cohorts program.
Do you know a high school student who is interested in astrophysics? Here is a list of 10 Astrophysics Summer Programs for High School Students! See horizoninspires.com/blog/astroph... for more details.
Hey astronomy postdoctoral researchers, senior graduate students, and early career researchers, are you interested in expanding your ALMA/radio interferometry expertise and sharing that knowledge with your home (or other) institutions? πβ¨Happy National Woman Astronomers Day! I am grateful for those that came before me and look forward to continuing to contribute to the field. In celebration of this day, here is a picture of a few of the fantastic women I work with at Green Bank Observatory! π π‘
Letters to a Pre-Scientist is a fantastic program - can highly recommend!
The program aims to demystify STEM careers, humanize STEM professionals, and inspire students to explore their STEM potential. This is a 10-hour commitment spread out in 2 hour chunks between August and May. Learn more and register now on their website.
Letters to a Pre-Scientist is recruiting STEM pen pal volunteers for the upcoming school year! STEM professionals send and receive 4 rounds of letters throughout a school year with a curious middle school student. prescientist.org/volunteers/
A big thank you to each of the following for supporting my travel to this excellent conference: @aas.org through the AAS International Travel Grant, the conference organizers, and NRAO/GBO.
I had a fantastic time at Tracing Cosmic Evolution with Galaxy Clusters V in Sesto, Italy last week! It was really great to connect with others (previous and new colleagues) who are excited about and working in the field of galaxy clusters π
We find that the merging cluster environment has a statistically significant, higher population proportion of disturbed (bent and head tail) radio sources. This work was done with collaborators @yjangordon.bsky.social, Jonathon Pierce, Martin Hardcastle, Lawrence Bilton, and Ian Roberts.
Using @zooniverse.bsky.social, we explored whether there was a difference in the populations of various radio-AGN morphology types (compact, extended, FRI/II, bent and head tail) between merging and relaxed clusters using LoTSS 144 MHz data.
Extra Extra: Paper day! π¨π In our recently published paper, Mary Rickel and I and collaborators investigated whether the merging galaxy cluster environment affects the morphology of radio-AGN, and we find that it does!πThread. iopscience.iop.org/article/10.3...
Are you or do you know any 5-8th grade STEM teachers looking for βfree ways to connect their students with real STEM professional mentors to help them see themselves in STEM? Tell them to apply to host the Letters to a Pre-Scientist program next year! See prescientist.org/for-teachers/ for details.
Had a great week at #AAS245! Great to attend great talks, make new connections, and reconnect.
