This is a cool approach. Do you have a sense of the general types of actors people are choosing? Elected officials, media figures, etc?

After nearly a decade measuring American public support for political violence, @nathankalmoe.bsky.social and I have published a somewhat comprehensive guide to measuring these attitudes. This includes historical comparisons and responses to common critiques. doi.org/10.1093/poq/...

At least that’s somewhat easy to detect! The one I saw was like β€œMason’s (2018) book invented the feeling thermometer measure” which is extremely wrong but also difficult for an AI reviewer to distinguish.

03.03.2026 13:14 πŸ‘ 18 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

I’ll also posit that an AI reviewer wouldn’t have caught any of this - because they don’t β€œknow” which papers do which things. AI isn’t designed to do that. I keep seeing folks say β€œbut it will soon” and just once I’d like a legit demonstration that isn’t embarrassing.

I recently reviewed an article that I was very suspicious was written by by AI, even though all the citations were real. Why? The cited works didn’t do the thing that they were cited to do. It was as if the authors hadn’t read any of it. Pretty bad signal to a reviewer.

Exclusive | Trump Administration to Drop Defense of Law Firm Sanctions The Justice Dept. plans to abandon its defense of the president’s executive orders that targeted Jenner & Block, WilmerHale, Perkins Coie, and Susman Godfrey.

If you are a client of a firm that folded in this fight, you should know that not only were they morally wrong, but they were also strategically dumb www.wsj.com/us-news/law/...

I think the truly damning thing about the Dem comms response is that they had months to prepare for today and there's zero coordination, no unified message. Just every D leader responding like they quickly hammered out a statement in a panic at 6 am this morning

I'm hiring a postdoc (from Aug 1) to help build a new research program on politically sustainable immigration policies at Notre Dame.

Looking for a social scientist with strong quant skills, familiarity with new computational tools, and interest in public-facing research.

It is difficult to overstate how quickly & thoroughly & shamefully we have normalized β€œthe president can use federal funding as a cudgel to punish blue states & only blue states on his whim” in our polity & society. Yet another thing that would have ended any other presidency in the modern era.

I'm constantly trying (/failing) to get this point across.

If you're a trained expert in a field, then it may be worthwhile to question the scientific consensus of your peers.

If you're not, the scientific consensus is absolutely the best you can do and it's arbitrary foolishness to disregard it.
