Noting for clarity that a lot of people working in software, including software engineers and designers, have a bad understanding of the software design process.

Looking good!
I was on IRC before I was on the web. Bringing ATproto to IRC is amazing.
It is really cool to see this! A huge win for sustainable open source!
Only one I can ask is @bnewbold.net wondering if you can shed light here. Itβs good info to now be aware of, but definitely surprising as didnβt see new changes to TOS or anything breaking this down.
STREAMPLACE EMOTE ANNOUNCEMENT: We're working on emotes.

Super excited to see this! Looking forward to what is next!
today, we're announcing our β¬3,8M ($4.5M) seed financing round, led by byFounders with participation from Bain Capital Crypto, Antler, Thomas Dohmke (former CEO of GitHub), Avery Pennarun (CEO of Tailscale) among other incredible angels.

pretty cool that we're seeing people migrating between independent, non-Bluesky PDS hosts now
the atmosphere has come so far in just 12 months
More people should know about .patch files; seriously underrated
google map directions to travel by train from Nuremberg (home of npmx.social) to Falkenstein (home of the eurosky PDS), it only takes 3 hours
atproto fact: the @npmx.dev PDS is only 3 hours by train from the @eurosky.social PDS. We're lucky to have powerful friends so close to us. Germany is slowly becoming the European atproto data pole.
Sunshine is such a cool project, better than any VNC I have ever used. Project link below for those unfamiliar.

When I am in the middle of rewatching/catching up on Discovery too? Hell yeah.
A screenshot of an Android app. Text: β² Nearby Glasses Smart Glasses are probably nearby Device: Unknown RSSI: -42 dBm Reason: Meta Company ID (0x058E) Company: Meta Platforms, Inc. This app notifies you when smart glasses are nearby. It uses company identificators in the Bluetooth data sent out by these. Therefore, there likely are false positives (e.g. from VR headsets). Hence, please proceed with caution when approaching a person nearby wearing glasses. They might just be regular glasses, despite this app's warning. Nearby Glasses is here to warn you when smart glasses are nearby.
I hope it's useful for someone.
Nearby Glasses's open source, free and rather simple
github.com/yjeanrenaud/...
It's also downloadable outside the Play Store. iOS port is in the making
Just got my new Game Changer Blu Rays, super excited to watch! Kudos to @dropout.tv for physical media!
This is why this protocol is so freaking cool!
Oh this would be hype actually
when we hit these cycles, I think a perfectly acceptable approach is to wait until a standard emerges and then learn that. loooooots of devs out there making money on React code who had no awareness of the intense churn that led to its eventual popularity
If I am going to spin up a Matrix server, might as well spin up a PDS too right?
Bad brain days suck, glad to here things are going better, hang in there
Man, public libraries are just super cool
Itβs going to be so great when this shit gets installed on everyoneβs lowest-bidder work laptops, with 16 gb of RAM and 23 separate pieces of monitoring spyware. So productive.
This is the sign I needed to add this to my blog in the next week
You are not wrong about that
Just started playing Death Stranding for the first time, guys what is this game???
This is what I want to see for scientific software, software without users is just code and encouraging better experiences is paramount.
free open source software needs fewer engineers and more designers and product people
I feel this so hard. The last year or so has been tough on my motivation to build again. Iβm coming back into it slowly, a little more intentionally, making sure to leave some room for the other stuff. Might need to spend some time on my crochet this weekend (a new hobby for 2026).
hey we're really working on permissioned data! read the first in a series of posts i'll be doing about our design decisions along the way. this one is about our decision to not do an e2ee system
Dot made a teeny, tiny friend today π (Do you think it wears two socks, or six...?) #AwesomeSocksHint
