'those movies where people watch a video because it's supposed to make you die in a week are unrealistic' I say as I watch another person take a Chotiner phone call

the least sufferable days on bluesky are when we all argue about whether and how one of the popular kids made a mistake

People shipping SDKs like it’s the 2010s or something. Cmon dorks just gimme an autogenerated graphql schema and an endpoint, save us both time

A bunch of code that doesn't make sense and doesn't run

A bunch of code that doesn't make sense and doesn't run

we're in the weird wide world of AI infecting and rotting dev documentation to the extent that it's making up its own variables in its own auto-generating help docs. given that AI "coding tools" are often driven by documentation, this is not a great sign. (note that this code doesn't run at all...)

important question: do people from philadelphia have the same aversion to "philly" as I do to "san fran" (big aversion)

A book by Theodore Gordon entitled “the composer’s black box: making music in cybernetic America”. The image is of a number of electrical patch cables interconnecting a system of panels. It is a Buchla modular synthesizer.

Absolutely loving Ted Gordon’s book, “The Composer’s Black Box” — and also the incredible Alvin Lucier line he found and included as an epigraph in one chapter:

Real echoes
Direct imitation, without metaphor,
Without metaphor, but with ambiguity

I was 15 so mostly my memory is “Oh shit that’s crazy” and then 24 more years being told to remember where I was on a particular day my freshman year of high school (I was in jazz choir)

This is awful! It’s basically incentivizing people to look for other jobs. (UC Santa Cruz is going through this with family housing but I don’t know the status.)

Sometimes I think about how SF is perpetually a “boom and bust” town, and also has the lowest rate of children of any major city in the country. Why invest in future generations when you can just let it all go bust and Buy The Dip?

Weston Olencki and Daniel Bachman Are Investigating Their Histories The artists talk their musical origins, and how interrogating the narratives they grew up with in the South shapes their work.

Weston Olencki and @danielbachman.bsky.social did an interview together at @talkhouse.bsky.social and it’s ridiculous how much I love this www.talkhouse.com/weston-olenc...
