'those movies where people watch a video because it's supposed to make you die in a week are unrealistic' I say as I watch another person take a Chotiner phone call

the least sufferable days on bluesky are when we all argue about whether and how one of the popular kids made a mistake
Claude error saying it is down
deeply hoping that claude, the "only safe AI," launched missiles against itself
People shipping SDKs like it’s the 2010s or something. Cmon dorks just gimme an autogenerated graphql schema and an endpoint, save us both time
My father in law was raised in the Richmond and says “San Fran” and it’s a head spinner
A bunch of code that doesn't make sense and doesn't run
we're in the weird wide world of AI infecting and rotting dev documentation to the extent that it's making up its own variables in its own auto-generating help docs. given that AI "coding tools" are often driven by documentation, this is not a great sign. (note that this code doesn't run at all...)
important question: do people from philadelphia have the same aversion to "philly" as I do to "san fran" (big aversion)
AGI is just a fall guy for the next extrajudicial killing
As someone who grew up in a cold war town, I truly can’t wait for the post-AI military surplus sales
A book by Theodore Gordon entitled “the composer’s black box: making music in cybernetic America”. The image is of a number of electrical patch cables interconnecting a system of panels. It is a Buchla modular synthesizer.
Absolutely loving Ted Gordon’s book, “The Composer’s Black Box” — and also the incredible Alvin Lucier line he found and included as an epigraph in one chapter:
Real echoes
Direct imitation, without metaphor,
Without metaphor, but with ambiguity

YOU DIED but it’s twin peaks

What’s your most cursed music take?
Mine is that The Fall is a blues band
The advantage of more gods is that there’s always someone to blame. Runny nose? Take it up with lord of snot
my husband: “You floss your teeth?”
me: “I’m just trying to be a better person than you.”
Has anyone ever bothered to ask David Byrne whether he’s come around to liking his big beautiful house
I was 15 so mostly my memory is “Oh shit that’s crazy” and then 24 more years being told to remember where I was on a particular day my freshman year of high school (I was in jazz choir)
Super weird to have a child who was not alive to remember 9/11 tbh
Out of nowhere, suddenly I’m in a bad mood. And then on top of all that I have to explain to my partner that vice dot com just published a piece called “partying with nick land” how is this fair
This is awful! It’s basically incentivizing people to look for other jobs. (UC Santa Cruz is going through this with family housing but I don’t know the status.)
Sometimes I think about how SF is perpetually a “boom and bust” town, and also has the lowest rate of children of any major city in the country. Why invest in future generations when you can just let it all go bust and Buy The Dip?
The most insufferable person you know is heading straight for the produce section
Weston is coming to SF in June to play a show but also to do some research on how part of our building fell off in the 1989 quake
Weston Olencki and @danielbachman.bsky.social did an interview together at @talkhouse.bsky.social and it’s ridiculous how much I love this www.talkhouse.com/weston-olenc...

I never really got the point of Eno's "Music for Airports" but that's probably because I'm not a Airport
hey buddy dad (paul graham) just went out for a pack of cigs, swear he’ll be home any minute now
Willy Wonka is basically just Se7en but with children right?
“/pol/ was created after moot met with jeffrey epstein” is maybe the single most cursed true sentence I have ever had the displeasure of writing
