As a school we get a lot of mid year transfers of pupils particularly children who have difficulties in previous settings, are LAC or who have been PEX. I want to create a welcome pack that helps build a sense of belonging. Any ideas??? #traumainformed #send #nurture #primary #relational

We are a nurturing/traumainformed/neurofriendly school.Just wondering what others are using to support PSHE,MH and well-being in primary? We currently use jigsaw but would love to hear what else is out there. #nurture #neurodiversity #traumainformed #send #primary

Anyone got any experience of parents turning on a child for β€˜bad behaviour’ there has been one incident that has been totally blown out of proportion I have parents constantly ringing demanding the child is excluded because theirs feels unsafe. We’re an inclusive school-this has shocked me #eduSEND

100% agree!!! Still trying to get minorities of staff at school to understand this despite all the training!!! We come so far in our journey but still had to have a conversation about why we shouldn’t line children up against a wall πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Love love love this model of building a trauma informed classroom from the ACTRM model (Carter, 2023).

Empowering for teachers looking to apply trauma informed practice to the whole class.

Which then means there are children in mainstream who can’t access special school because there’s no spaces 😒 It’s such a mess at the moment πŸ˜”

Yes to this! We are opening an ERP in our mainstream school in Sept and have visited children in their current settings as part of consult. So many could be fine in mainstream if a few adaptions were made. Mainstream need to start upskilling staff and making reasonable adjustments

100% agree!!! If we can get school level β€˜right’ we would reduce the need for as many EHCPs. CPD is just the start

Absolutely, you should be proud of that thought and treat yourself to a beer as well!

I think first and foremost we need to look at the curriculum. This increase in pupil need for β€˜EHCP’ is because the current curriculum is not fit for purpose. CPD and a better understanding of child development and neuroscience at ITT would also help. Although I could be wrong πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

New Scottish behaviour plan advises β€˜high warmth and high standards’ β€˜Culture shift’ in behaviour management has made teachers feel β€˜disempowered’, says plan, which backs β€˜relationships-based approaches’ and barely mentions exclusions

In Scotland, @henryhepburn.bsky.social reports that worsening school behaviour has been responded to by the government with a double down on "a relational style characterised by high warmth and support, high standards and high expectations".
