Goddamn, man, Adobe products are just the thirstiest shit. No, I don't want a free trial of pro. No, I don't want to sign in. No, I don't want to try out your AI companion. No, I don't want to install other apps.

I just wanted to open PDFs in not-a-web-browser. Christ's sake.

The only thing better than reading new Swan Boy early is the smug satisfaction I get from knowing I read new Swan Boy early

Shout-out to Adobe who are apparently running their download servers on a 28.8 baud modem.

I cannot believe Jayson Tatum is playing NBA basketball again already. Sports medicine has come a long, long way.

If you're not reading Swan Boy, you're doing the internet wrong.

The cover to Suzuki by Tosca. It features two people (likely a man and a woman by their body shapes) wearing plush white bathrobes, standing in front of a textured crimson wall. Their heads, necks, and any other visible skin have been photoshopped out, leaving only the wall behind them, like a pair of ghosts.

Suzuki (1999) - Tosca. I got into this album because I used to frequent a bar in Syracuse, NY, and this was on regular rotation there. I liked it, asked the bartender what it was, and went and looked it up. It's sort of trip-hoppy, sort of electronica. I dunno. But it's nice to listen to!

Might that change? Yes. But the word was "current"

Also, While it's an amazing piece of software, it's also being sold far below cost, which won't last. It's closer to $2,000/m. 2/2

I use Claude Code daily and I don't think this is entirely true.

It doesn't learn. It gains context over time on a project, yes, but it doesn't really learn. Unlike a junior, Claude, in its current iteration, doesn't develop intuition about architecture, and can't do things like "see a bug โ€ฆ 1/2

It's not as stark as Russia being overthrown by the oligarchs in the 90s, but this is yet another chart showing how Reagan's policies set in motion the wreck of the United States.

My lukewarm take is that it's deeply unprofessional to leave your camera off in a work zoom meeting. Something came up? Sure, turn it off for a bit. But if you're just a black box every meeting, that sucks.

Video editing is the first task I've ever found for which I'm like "goddamn this 32-inch monitor just isn't big enough." I want more horizontal _and_ vertical space. Give me a friggin WALL of space.

Even if I did believe in any of the gods that humanity has come up with over the millennia, and even if that god was the Christian god, there is _nothing_ in the bible that indicates Jesus would have anything but raging, table-flipping contempt for these assholes. Not a single sentence.

I try not to be obnoxious about my atheism/agnosticism. I'm not here to preach to anyone. But fuck, man, I get so tired of everything in the world being directed by what our stupid, superstitious monkey brains think the magic man in the sky wants us to do.

It's probably bad that the US is entirely run by lunatics who are attempting to cause World War III in the Middle East because they believe that it will trigger the return of Jesus Christ (who they think will, for some reason, judge them positively for murdering thousands people).

the US has already lost in iran, their only hope was iran collapsing in a day or two, and it didn't, so now their only options are to declare victory & slink away or try to put boots on the ground & lose way harder

"No-knead bread! There's NO WORK, unlike that old & tired KNEADED bread recipe, amirite?!?!"

Steps:
- make dough
- stretch and fold it in a specific way every 30 min for 2 hrs
- Shape carefully and rise again
- bake

My friends that is still kneading, just on 0.5x speed and you can't go anywhere

I think the issue you may run into is that running a small business is an 80+ hour a week job and you'd be left with no time for art. Other than that I think you certainly have the knowledge and skill, and probably the audience to crowdfund it.

I once drove my mom's minivan 40 mph through a grocery store parking lot at peak hours while my friend, a young woman, leaned out the passenger window brandishing a fake AK 47 and screaming profanities at another group of our friends, who were on foot and also waving around fake weapons.

I've been helping test drive Chatto since the very early days and it's really excellent.

It's come a long way, and it's still a work in progress, but already crazy good.
