I'm only just finding out about it now, but Sunday Press Books does collections of newspaper comics at full size. It looks like a lot of the largest size books are out of print, but "Sundays with Walt and Skeezix" seems like it's more easily available and it's the same big 16x21" size.
A mockup page in the style of "Mobile Suit Gundam: THE ORIGIN" showing Combattler V fighting the Slave Beast "Zenda" from episode 3. The piece is done in a traditional watercolour style.
A "normal" page using the airbrush colouring style, showing a conversation between Garuda and his mother, Oleana. Oleana is given a minor redesign to appear more outwardly mechanical.
What if Yoshikazu Yasuhiko adapted "COMBATTLER V" into a manga?

I also miss the feeling of superheroes fighting an endless fight that always has to be kept in secret, though I don't read a lot of newer comics so I wouldn't know if there are any comics like that nowadays.
I really miss the use of thought balloons in comics. People use captions for that kind of thing now, but it's not the same. They feel less personal and less immediate.
A Spider-Man fan comic's first page. Panel 1 features Spidey standing horizontally on a structure on a New York roof. He's thinking "IF ONLY THEY KNEW... that little old Peter Parker was Spider-Man", with the first four words in big title letters. Drawn and written by Cheerful Chase Burns Panel 2 features Spidey looking frustrated, surrounded by images of laughing heads. The city around him is at an odd angle. He's thinking "They wouldn't even believe it. They'd just laugh and laugh until I really proved it." Panel 3 features a closeup of Spidey looking sad, saying "If only...", trailing off into a sigh. Panel 4 features Spider-Man with a depressed disposition, turning away from view, rotating in space. Panel 5 features a closeup of his head in profile, facing upward. It's set against a background full of wavy lines. He's thinking "If I could just talk to somebody... really let it all out... have someone listen to me and just tell me I'm doing the right thing..."
Page two of the Spider-Man fan comic. Panel 1 features a low-angle shot of Spidey looking mad. He's thinking "As if that'd even do me any good! What do I need from anybody else? Knowing my luck they'd only get in my way!" Panel 2 features an extreme closeup of Spidey's eye, looking sad. He's thinking "Or worse... if I really told them everything, they'd be liable to get wrapped up in my terrible web and get hurt. I almost can't stand the thought." Panel 3 is a small panel, featuring him standing straight up, though with the cityscape around him turned on its side. He's thinking "But if someone were to get hurt, they'd really have to care about ol' Pete, right...?" Panel 4 features Spider-Man jumping acrobatically off of the structure, shooting a web. He's thinking "No. Spider-Man--and Peter Parker--work alone. it just can't be any other way. I can't let myself think so selfishly", and his head is half-Spidey half-Peter. Panel 5 is split up into 3 sections and features Spider-Man swinging on a web, contorted into a pose nearly like a cannonball. He's saying "Here I come, New York... and don't ever think that Spider-Man lets up, even for just a second!"

The new Ben 10 redesigns have got me thinking how I'd redesign the aliens. I was a huge fan when I was a kid, so it's hard for me to change any part of them. I think they'd be great if they maintained some of their abstractness and didn't look so "real", sort of like some of the aliens from Ultraman

a digital illustration of evangelion unit-01 doing the pose of the misato photograph in episode 1 of neon genesis evangelion, complete with the text "look here" with an arrow pointing to the chest. there is also writing that reads "the top hole sits on the beveled edge... what a sexy design"
One of those often-forgotten details is the way the holes on the chest are arranged. It's a subtle thing, and it really doesn't matter that much, but once you realize it, it's hard to not look for. I had to draw this tribute to it.
Now I'll be able to look forward to adding to this image, I suppose. I wonder what will be different and what will be the same. Will we get broad-shouldered Evas once again? Will they still have the thigh vents and the shoulder holes? How many more green lines will there be??
if you want to hear some thoughts on another post-rebuild, non-Anno Evangelion thing plus its inevitable status as a franchise that Will Never End, might I suggest when I talked about the stage play?
I wonder if Zambot 3's "Gaizok" and "Jin Family" terms are intended to mirror each other, by being "gai-jin" + family/zoku (族) (Though zoku would be mutated into zokku).
I found some Japanese page theorizing that Gaizok is based on the word for pirate, "kaizoku" (海賊), though.
SHOCKING: This gattai took 8 years to happen successfully
In a way, I'm slightly saddened by the fact that new robot anime won't ever have "soft designs" like this, because people are likely always testing physical possibilities of toys before finalizing designs.
