I too find myself in a similar situation... Behind in rent because we are forced to use Rental Rewards... Meanwhile I am being gaslighted by the real estate, nothing has been fixed since we moved in in January, and we are paying 700pw for a 500pw house for this delightful capitalist hell.

Hi. Hello. I am still alive! A happy new year to everyone!
I went ahead and filled up my artist starter pack to the brim. If you're looking for great, kind, and talented artists, here you go! π
There aren't many paleobotanist over here yet, but here's a Starter Pack of people who I follow because they're either paleobotanistsπΏ, do paleobotanical artπͺ·, or post about plants in a way relevant to #paleobotanyπ.
It's currently a small list, so lemme know who needs adding.

I saw a starter pack pertaining to include indie comic publishers, but it had people like Image and Dark Horse, lol.
Anyway, here's a pack with some *actual* small press publishers/collectives on the indie comic scene!

A poster showing a weeping skull wearing a red hat. The skeleton is holding a smartphone that is showing no comments, shares, or likes, as though no one is interacting with its posts. The text on the poster reads "This account does not feed trolls. Block and move on."
"i hope this site doesn't end up like the last one :("
Hope has nothing to do with it--DO YOUR PART!
Twitter & Truth Social are dying. Their users are used to farming outrage for engagement. Don't give them any!
π« Don't argue with them!
π« Don't quote them!

How it feels like moving from Twitter to Bluesky.
An infographic. There are six panels. 1. "Slow internet. Alt text is shown in place of unloaded images." a drawing shows a phone with poor signal, and alt text is visible where the image should have loaded. 2. "Findabillity. Alt text helps to search content." A drawing shows someone searching 'dog with banana' and a post is shown underneath without the words 'dog' or 'banana'. It is implied to be part of the alt text. 3. "Screen readers. Alt is read out to people using text-to-speech software". There is a drawing of the output a screen-reader would show when viewing an image with alt text on bluesky. 4. "Translation. Alt text can be translated". A drawing shows a post being translated. The alt text is also translated into german. 5. "Readability. Text in images can be made legible" There is a drawing of some truly awful handwriting inside a speech bubble. The alt text clarifies what the text is supposed to say. 6. "Disambiguation. Description helps clarify intent." There is a drawing of a post with a picture of a creature. This is styled after the famous optical illusion of a rabbit and a duck. The alt text clarifies that the animal is a rabbit. It definitely looks more like a duck.
Generally we think of alt-text as the domain of those with accessibility needs.
However alt-text is useful for many reasons, which benefit your viewers, as well as you, the creator!

As I must do my part to be a rising tide that lifts the boats, I've started chipping away at a starter pack of some funny/supportive/talented pals I love chatting with online and IRL, and a few people I WISH I was friends with lololol. It's VERY unfinished so I will be adding to it over the week!
I might have went on a follow frenzy in the past few days. I have gone back and reposted the starter packs I followed. This way anyone interested can see them on my profile too. Make the internet a better place!
Here is my starter pack of tech content creators and a tech related feeds. Am I missing anything?
I also recommend adding the crypto/ai bro moderation block list!

Working on a starter pack collecting odd or unusual artists!
Let me know if there's someone I should add (you?) - whether they work with weird materials no one else uses, know a rare heritage craft, or just have a unique oddball style.
Follow all or some, and repost if relevant! π #art #craftsky

Earnest post, but: a thing I like here is itβs okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism.
We have to sustain each other. Making joy isnβt denial, itβs how we will survive
Screenshot: a Mastodon post by ChanceyFleet that says: "As a Blind person i never thought i would be on social media savoring photos. But the communal Mastodon alt text game is so strong that sweet, poetic or silly descriptions abound on my timeline. Thanks to legions of people who take time to write a meaningful description of the ephemera they post, i learn so much about insects, plants, buildings, memes β all dispatches from a dimension of the world that i otherwise wouldn't experience. If you're wondering whether anybody reads these things: YES."
Just came across this on Mastodon and thought I'd share it for anyone wondering if adding image alt text is "worth it."
