Yep, there's a reason I moved! I very much didn't want to drive two hours a day. I like living life.

When I used to live in the deep rural north of Aomori, there were a couple sparse buses, three ferries across the bay, and a train line. You'd never use most of this in your weekly commute unless you're too young or too old, but for day trips, or long distance travel? Perfectly good. I used em lots.

Also, rural areas are definitely allowed to have transit. It might not be a top of the line subway, but my hometown area had a trolley 100 years ago, and rural workers all over the world ride various forms of buses.

I'm at the level where I am mass buying and freezing broccoli because it's still cheap at the end of season.
