Our Street Lighting Division was busy today upgrading lighting fixtures on multiple streets in #BackBay. In total, over 100 fixtures were replaced to improve visibility, safety & energy reliability throughout the neighborhood.💡🦺🛠️

Snow removal efforts began early this morning in the City of Boston, as crews continue widening & clearing roads, bike lanes, crosswalks & curb ramps.❄️🚲🚜

This afternoon, Mayor Wu thanked Vineet Gupta, our Director of Policy and Planning, for his 37 years of service to the people of Boston, including his work at Parks & Recreation and long tenure in transportation policy and planning.

For the first time ever, the Office of Neighborhood Services held neighborhood shoveling meet-ups where community members and City staff helped shovel sidewalks and curb ramps around each neighborhood.

Night 3 of large-scale snow removal is underway. To date, crews have hauled 2,594 loads - totaling 43,666 cubic yards - of snow from Boston streets to snow farms across the city. Operations continue around the clock to keep our roadways, crosswalks & curb ramps safe & accessible.

Enormous gratitude to our incredible @streets.boston.gov teams who hauled over a thousand truck loads of snow overnight. 💪

Overnight snow removal will continue until 5 a.m. Once completed, PWD district crews will continue daytime skid-steer operations in neighborhoods across the city. We encourage anyone who has a snow-related issue to call 311.

With the most recent blizzard dropping 17-inches of snow across the City of Boston, Night 2 of heavy snow removal is underway. Crews will continue to widen roadways & clear crosswalks & curb ramps to improve safety & accessibility.

Post-blizzard snow removal totals: Crews have removed 1,234 loads from neighborhood streets - equaling 20,316 cubic yards.

Day 2: Crews are continuing to using skid steers to clear crosswalks & curb ramps before large scale removal begins again during the overnight hours.

Post-blizzard, large-scale snow removal efforts continue across the City of Boston. In addition to targeted removal, crews are also prepared to treat roadways as the forecast is calling for 1 - 2 inches of snow to fall during the morning commute.

With daytime operations winding down, our crews & contractors will be out tonight conducting large-scale snow removal across the city. Pics below from today’s efforts clearing crosswalks, curb ramps & widening roads.

The snow emergency and parking ban will end today at 6 p.m.

The special emergency rate at participating garages will end two hours after the ban has been lifted. Vehicles must be removed by 8 p.m. tonight or be charged the garage’s standard parking rate.

Snow removal efforts continue this morning with PWD crews & contractors improving safety, visibility & accessibility on Hyde Park Ave, Commonwealth Ave & Columbia Rd.

The sun is out, the air is crisp, and it’s time to do your part to help keep Boston safe and accessible.

No rest for the weary. Following the blizzard, PWD crews & contractors worked through the night to widen roads & clear snow citywide - and the work isn’t slowing down. Snow removal operations will continue 24/7 in neighborhoods across the city.

Snow Emergency Due to the ongoing storm conditions, a snow emergency remains in effect in the City of Boston through Tuesday, February 24. A parking ban will be in effect at least until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24. Boston Public Schools will remain closed on Tuesday, February 24. Boston City Hall will be open with regular hours. Boston Public Library branches, BCYF community centers, and senior centers will open on a delayed schedule at 12 p.m.

Boston’s snow emergency remains in effect.

The Parking Ban continues at least until 6 p.m. Tuesday, Boston Public Schools are closed Tuesday, City Hall will open at regular hours, and @bpl.boston.gov branches, @bcyf.boston.gov centers, and senior centers will open at 12 p.m.
