Teaching at the higher ed level, I'm so grateful to have taught middle schoolers for 15 years. At every level, our students deserve a level of empathy and grace that the world isn't offering.

I can feel some of my students needing to be seen. That alone motivates the hidden curriculum in my work.

I’ve always hated how old people always complain about “kids today” it is one of the oldest troupes.

Not sure where I read it, maybe a Guskey book, but it showed the a number of the basic articles complaining about studentss from the 1800s to today.

I think that we do more to identify “disabilities” than we used to.

And

We have destigmatized giving people the support they need to find success.

And

We have taught kids that with proper supports they can be successful.

And

We have taught kids to advocate for themselves instead of be silent.
