Pedicide They’re killing children Again— Those weak rich men Aroused by violence— Hide their darkest secrets Under ashes and dust. School girls seeking Knowledge, Living for the future— The screaming bombs Silenced their voices— Forever. Bloodied books and backpacks, Pencils broken on the floor— No longer to write, To create— No more songs, No more dreams. Children— Stuck in the middle Of adult liars, Broken empires, And one-sided peace promises As empty as craters. When will it end?

A new poem. This is for all the children and victims of war and other atrocities caused by weak men.

Is that correct usage of the em dash? I don’t know. To be honest, I don’t care. Poetry is meant to bend and break the rigid rules of writing.

All those excuses don’t give these trigger happy goons the right to execute people.
