My best friend’s sister, who CBP has been telling us different stories all day about, her phone just got turned back on. She is a US citizen born in Evanston. They said she was never detained at O’Hare after telling us she was, they said she was not transferred to Broadview, and now she's in a detention facility in WI.

Update from Reed Showalter, who's at Broadview
"The Cook County Sheriff claims that they searched the facility and that Naqvi is not there. They also have no record that her phone is there. But there has been no actual search for her phone within the Broadview ICE Detention Center."

bill buxton wrote an entire book to address the problem that on a computer, less polished looks more polished, and so stakeholders will assume that what you're showing them is much farther along than it actually is so you have to spend effort making it look sketchy

Strongly recommend calling your US senators today to tell them:
1. Publicly call for Sheehy to be expelled from the Senate for assaulting a protestor.
2. DO NOT vote to confirm Mullin for DHS.

People Across The US Are Tearing Down Flock's Traffic Cameras - Here's Why - BGR
Rapidly growing surveillance tech company Flock is seeing many of its cameras in cities across the U.S. be torn down by concerned citizens, and here's why.
“To date, the company's tech has been deployed to identify activists, track abortion visits, stalk women, and reinforce racial profiling. Security issues further exacerbated privacy concerns after activists discovered Flock accidentally exposed live camera feeds on the internet.”

At some point it ought to dawn on at least a few of the Roganpilled, FOX-watching men out there that this administration seems highly motivated to kill as many of them as it possibly can, as fast as it possibly can.
But if it doesn't, well, the writing was there on the wall for you to read, bud.

Opinion | Revoking Transgender People’s IDs Has Consequences
Jae A. Puckett, L. Zachary DuBois and Noelle Martin write that revoking transgender people’s identification can invite broader discrimination.
OPINION: "Trans and nonbinary people who need to drive with an invalid license risk fines and jail time, where they would be housed according to their sex assigned at birth," Jae A. Puckett, L. Zachary DuBois and Noelle Martin write.

Finally, the Notice of Revocation states, without further detail, that Petitioner “ha[s] not been compliant with the terns [sic] of your release.” Ex. D, Dkt. 7-4, at 1. Nothing in Petitioner’s Order of Supervision requires him to submit to the jurisdiction of seabirds.

The reason the current U.S. administration lies so freely is b/c they're cresting a wave of 20-30 years of lies being *completely normalized* in corporate settings.
If you work in an office, you can't go an hour without having to lie to someone. "Great talk, Tina," is a lie if the talk was no good.

A post by Bluesky user Steven Levy (@stevenlevy.bsky.social) prefaces a Wired article entitled, "Jack Dorsey Is Ready to Explain the Block Layoffs," with this statement: "Conversations w Jack Dorsey are always illuminating." This is a sentence that could only be typed by someone willing to tell lies for money.
Well, there went any potential remorse I might feel over sometimes using archive links to share articles. This isn't worth reading for free.
Why would someone type this sentence intentionally? For anything to change for humanity, we all have to commit to stop. Fucking. Lying. Yeah, even for money.

Shah Alam was found dead in late February.
Here in Cook County, IL, there's still no announced state or county investigation into the ICE agents who killed Silverio Villegas González last September. We don't even know their names.

I pay almost $8 per gallon in my country and minimum wage is $1138 per month in my country.
I can't begin to explain how stupid, and frustrating, it feels to us Europeans when Americans complain about their fuel prices.

Brian McGinnis' wife has
NOT been allowed to see him in the hospital.
He is currently awaiting surgery for severe injuries.
Legal counsel has also been denied access.
A Marine veteran.
A firefighter.
A father of four.
And his family still cannot see him.
so apparently Brian McGinnis has been denied access to both his family and legal representation since a sitting senator broke his arm

The formula:
Place is termed a bad neighborhood --> more policing of it --> increased crime, often exacerbated by more policing --> people & businesses who can move out, do --> property values plunge --> developers buy cheap land --> build "upscale" properties --> gentrification.
It's a racket.

2015's Ex Machina makes this explicit, when the human character you think is the protagonist finds video of past android versions, and sees that they all destroy themselves trying to escape their rooms.
"It's wrong to hold sentient beings against their wills" should not be a controversial point.

Let’s talk about Graham Platner’s Big Lie, finally. In 2009, at the height of the Gulf War, the Marines barred him from active duty. Platner claims it was his forearm tattoos. But his one forbidden tattoo was the Nazi symbol on his chest. He knew - and he left the Marines rather than give it up. 1/

This is a really good thread. If you aren't in tech, it provides great insight into why so much of what comes out of tech lately sits somewhere on the aesthetic scale from "meh" to "creepy." And if you are in tech--then you know, but it's still nice to see this all laid out so clearly.

Missourians on probation and parole can’t vote. Their rights might be restored
The House has approved legislation that would allow the more than 53,000 people supervised by the state to vote.
Wow, a huge bipartisan coalition passed a bill in the Missouri House to allow anyone who is not presently incarcerated to vote.
More than half the states allow this, but Democrats have led this in the last decade. Haven't seen a GOP-led chamber pass this in that time. Big deal.
