Our campaign for justice does not end when the hearings finish.
What matters next is implementation, turning the Inquiry’s recommendations into changes that save lives in the future.

For bereaved families, this has been years in the making.
We began calling for an Inquiry back in 2020, and the first public hearings started back in June 2023.
This is the last time the inquiry will hear from those who lost the most to Covid.

On Monday, the final public hearings of the Covid-19 Inquiry begin.
Module 10 will examine the impact of the pandemic on society, including bereavement and bereavement support, mental health, and wider experiences across communities.

We welcome the news that Chris Wormald has resigned.
When he was appointed Cabinet Secretary, we warned ministers that many would see it as his failures during the pandemic being brushed aside, or even rewarded.
Those concerns were ignored.

Bereaved families watched him give evidence to the Inquiry and heard repeated denials and a refusal to accept responsibility for what went wrong.
It is unacceptable that, rather than being dismissed long ago for his critical failures during the pandemic, he was promoted.

The Covid Inquiry’s Module 2 report criticised him by name and found there was no evidence he acted to correct misleading assurances within government about its ability to cope, obscuring the reality and the need for more urgent action.

Sir Chris Wormald played a central role in the failures that led to the deaths of our loved ones and he should resign.
He has no place in any government that claims to listen to families bereaved by Covid.
