I agree with the sentiment here that many of these "learning" apps, Duolingo in this case, are not actually all that useful for learning. These apps get you addicted to the feeling of progress and learning, all with the goal of keeping you on the platform and turning a profit.

I think what's struck so many people about the White House CoD meme--or at least what struck me--is how, unlike Pokemon or Halo, there's way this one, in a fucked-up way, makes "sense," which says as much about games as it does about the 12-year-olds in our government.
