Imagine watching Ghana against Panama from this seat
Yeah. But not for why they think it is. For watching sport it's crap. A long way from the pitch, huge stairs away from toilets etc, no shelter, terrible acoustics. But as a superstructure for us theorists, yeah it's ok
Beautiful world cup architecture incoming, 40m Canadian dollars of scaffolding.
I feel like I'm one of the old guard* because I joined two years ago...
(*I know I'm not, excellent people have been doing Green things excellently for years and years)
Neither?
I think it's ok to be critical about an artist, like some things and dislike others. I also think it's important to not just do discussions or events with people you're a fan of. Regardless, I was a visitor at a Jewish cultural centre and I was programming for the audience's interests
Lol. Sorry. Didn't mean to come across like that. Libeskind does that to me!
No, not at all. He does loads of trash. I organised an event a few years ago, brought him over to London for an in conversation with @samiraahmeduk.bsky.social, and the question around the mutability of profound meaning in the aesthetic between eg Jewish museums and luxury homes/malls was important
That's just all of his buildings, not only these two
An inverted ziggurat building painted white in Santiago that looks just like the Guggenheim Museum in New York.
A view of spiraling interior ramps show an array of small shops selling fashion, cell phone repair and more.
A shop window features a mannequin in a pleather bra and garters. Above her, a neon sign in yellow reads "Sex Shop."
I'm in Santiago and I made it to South America's Guggenheim. (It was on the life list.) Really, it's a spiral mall, or caracol, an architectural type typical of Chile that came about in the '70s. In this one, you can get your cell phone fixed, get your nails done and buy dildos.

Did he try to get the recent byelection seat?
I just listened to a podcast that mentioned Paul Mason. And I'd totally forgotten about him. He had a proper rollercoaster ride didn't he, I guess ATM he's somewhere in a cupboard trying to defend the attacks on Iran and telling everything else in there that Starmer has a plan.

UPDATE: Weβre delighted that the Eduardo Paolozzi mosaics at Kingfisher Shopping Centre in Redditch (1981-83) have now been Grade II listed, following support from C20. They're the first Paolozzi murals and only the second post-war shopping centre to be partially listed, after Milton Keynes (1979)
he watched Elon Musk change Twitter to "X" and thought "yeah I'll do that"
I hope he renames it to "Schu Architectz" and loses 70% of his work.

Hah. I run a big charity and I'm paid LLW and got nervous in case I couldn't claim a coffee on expenses. Meanwhile:
"oh, are we the bad guys?"
"Yes, but so are they, and they, and the others."
No, because he'd choose the wrong gifs, music clips and references. He had really really really terrible cultural taste - his hard drive was all cat videos and cartoons, that and terrorism. I have his whole archive saved somewhere for a project I never made.
I'd settle for a quality thirty minutes on anything cultural on the BBC, let alone a series. In such a short time they've really fucked their quality of cultural programming.
Oh. This will certainly help improve his popularity. Great ethical rights, you deep thinking human rights genius.
Surprise, surprise. The battle over whether to save Dallas's IM Pei-designed city hall is less about the cost for repairs as it as about giving up the land to appease still another billionaire sports owner, in this case casino magnate Miriam Addison.(paywalled)

Do we know when the strike is? I'm meant to be giving a lecture there soon so will need to check!
I'm thinking of every parent that lost a daughter when their school was blown up by military members serving in these operations who courageously pressed buttons from a distance at the demand of a nearly-dead paedophile.
