Row from a spreadsheet that lists the motion 'Taking Urgent Action to Boost Street Capacity and Speed Up Transit Service for Vancouverites' with the recommendation 'Postpone - staff recommends that work be completed on the first five bus corridors, before initiating signifiant work on next four.' The final column lists rational 'Reprioritisation of staff resources, advisability of evaluating outcomes of the first five corridors before investing in work on the next four corridors'
Motion text which outlines the 9 approved bus lane routes. The first five are Granville Street, Southeast Marine Drive, 49th Avenue, Hastings Street, and Main Street/Kingsway. The additional 4 are Broadway, King Edward, West 4th, and Downtown to the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge
BUS LANES: There were 9 bus lane corridors promised in this unanimously passed motion from @christineboyle.bsky.social back in summer 2024, with implementation at a rate of at least 2 corridors per year. New recommendation is to postpone 4 of these (which we'll note are already off schedule)

There are a million transit riders in Metro Vancouver and we deserve better than to be stuck waiting in traffic and waiting for action.
This article from our volunteer @michaelhall.bsky.social is as relevant as ever!

We've been waiting YEARS for a single new bus lane. They aren't expensive, they just need signs and paint, and they could be delivered in a matter of days if they were a priority.
Disappointed but not surprised to see that the 2023 bus priority motion from @sarahkirbyyung.bsky.social has been scaled back and the 2024 bus priority motion from @christineboyle.bsky.social has been postponed.
i think you *might* be gay
Transportation can make or break the experience for people visiting Vancouver for the first time. To avoid gridlock, we need transit to be the convenient and comfortable choice.

Weβre just 100 days out from FIFA. What does the @cityofvancouver.bsky.social need to do to prepare for the influx of tourism and travel demand headed to the city soon?
so real
an image showing the face of a dog the picture is split down the middle it's captioned with "I have two sides" the left side is captioned "left" and the right side is captioned "right"
@newwestminster.bsky.social @pjnewwest.bsky.social @translink.ca the situation is 7th Ave is DIRE. I counted 6 buses stuck in standstill traffic ππ

the back of H23212, a translink 2023 novabus LFSe+ is seen pulling away from 22nd Street Station at Bay 9, after having dropped off passengers moments before the photo was taken. In front of it, there are a line of cars, all with their brake lights on, occasionally separated by a bus with its brake lights on due to the sheer amount of traffic

Vancouver Council Majority Rejects Snow Removal Priority for Transit
βWe are disappointed. This motion was simple, it aimed to ensure that everyone, not just frequent transit riders but also snow-day transit users (like drivers who want to keep their car parked during a storm) have reliable transit access during harsh wintersβ - Aman Chandi movementyvr.ca/vanco...
mraow!
A sad little cartoon bus is stuck sliding in the snow, it says "help me!" on the front and it has a face that is upset and scared. A text box says "Has your bus ever been stuck in the snow? On Feb 4th, Vancouver Council is considering a motion to prioritize transit trouble spots for snow clearing. Send an email or sign up to speak in support!"
You can help get this poor bus out of the snow! This Wednesday, February 4th, Vancouver City Council will vote on a motion to give snow clearing priority to transit trouble spots. We can't believe they don't do this already.
