Real estate and trusts should not be investment mechanisms for wealthy individuals and families to cement permanent affluence. The consequence on working people is the death of the American dream to own a home,
Massachusetts reps missing from this list include Katherine Clark, Richie Neal, Seth Moulton, and of course Jake Auchincloss, probably the biggest warmonger of the lot
Giving the government vague authority to define harmful content doesn't protect vulnerable kids. It gives the Trump admin. a new tool to silence them.
There is legislation in Congress that would create a universal basic income in the United States. The BOOST Act, introduced by Rep. Rashida Tlaib, would give $250/mo. to every working-age American. It is funded by a 2.5% tax on income above $30k for single filers and $60k for joint filers. Single filers earning < $150k and joint filers earning < 180k would see a net benefit.
Spoke with Attleboro Democrats about the need to address economic insecurities due to AI-related job displacement, including the need for Medicare-for-all, Universal Basic Income, and strengthening collective bargaining rights.
A fair tax system requires billionaires and corporations to pay their fair share while workers keep more of what they earn. We need a wealth tax on the ultra-rich, higher marginal rates on top incomes, and a corporate automation tax.
Not just Republicans - the congressman squirming out of view to the left of you.
You're right, it was removed from the House version. A narrowed "duty of care" may be included in the reconciled version if the House passes it.
This is the end result of these backwards and badly thought out laws like COPPA, where the government is actively position the idea of queer expression as harmful for kids, so it can use that and similar laws to erase online queer communities from the internet.

Discord distances itself from Peter Thielβbacked verification software after its code was found on a Google Cloud endpoint
Excellent points raised by @ocasio-cortez.house.gov on the package of online censorship bills up for debate in the House. Worth noting that Discord's 3rd-party age verification software is a Thiel venture.
I agree with your overall point about the alarmists at MIRI but the layoffs are real.
KOSA creates a "duty of care" requiring social media platforms to prevent "harmful" content. It would empower FTC Chair Andrew Ferguson, who considers transgender healthcare and LGBTQ content to be threats to children, to decide what counts as "harmful." @fightforthefuture.org

UPDATE: The House Oversight Committee successfully subpoenaed Pam Bondi to come testify.
She has failed to follow through with the Epstein Files Transparency Act & must answer for her failures.
Survivors deserve transparency, accountability, & healing.
Climate policy that doesn't address economic inequality will fail β we need solutions that tackle both crises together.
We must prioritize environmental justice for frontline communities that have borne the brunt of pollution and climate disasters, and ensure that workers in fossil fuel industries have a just transition to new employment.
The Green New Deal would transition the economy off fossil fuels while creating millions of good union jobs in clean energy, manufacturing, and infrastructure.
A non-binding agreement is not a substitute for federal laws and regulations. Ban utilities from passing data center infra costs onto residential ratepayers. Carbon fees with revenue rebated to ratepayers. Mandatory reporting of energy and water use.
Today President Trump obtained a pledge from Americaβs leading tech companies that new data centers would not increase electricity prices for residential consumers. These companies (including Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft, OpenAI, Oracle, and xAI) signed the βRatepayer Protection Pledgeβ under which they agree to cover the costs of all new power generation required for their data centers, ensuring such costs are not passed onto American households. This is a much better approach to affordability than Bernie Sandersβ total ban on new data centers, which would halt the construction boom currently driving wage growth and job growth for blue-collar workers. In fact, the Ratepayer Protection Pledge will lower electricity prices when AI companies pay for grid upgrades and sell their excess power back to the grid. Since the beginning of his second term, President Trump has championed the idea of letting our leading AI companies become power companies, and now this idea is becoming a reality thanks to his leadership and the commitments of these strong American companies. The right approach to data centers is not to stop progress altogether, but rather to protect residential rate payers from price increases, while making it easier to stand up new power generation.
Does anyone believe that new AI data centers are "driving wage growth and job growth for blue-collar workers"? They are ghost warehouses after they're built.
And if you care about whatβs happening in Iran, Palestine, Cuba,Venezuela & your ability to document/call out U.S. Imperialist BS- these bills MATTER bc they will be used to censor all of this info off the internet.

The idea behind these bills are to force developers to collect IDs for everyone online. Then the Federal government can ask the developers for info on anonymous users.
If it was the Epstein Class that would be sent to fight and die, Donald Trump wouldnβt be starting reckless regime change wars.
End this war.
The same anti-corruption reforms I support for Congress β banning stock trading, closing the revolving door to lobbying β must apply to executive branch officials and their families.
strict enforcement of the Emoluments Clause, and real penalties for defying congressional subpoenas. We also need to protect whistleblowers who expose corruption rather than prosecuting them.
Congress must reassert its oversight authority and stop deferring to executive power. I support strengthening inspectors general with independent funding and removal protections, mandatory disclosure of presidential and cabinet tax returns,
The Parents over Platforms Act requires app stores to collect age info on every user. You can't verify some users are under 18 without tracking everyone's identity. These aren't child safety bills - they're surveillance infrastructure bills. @eff.org @fightforthefuture.org
Talarico ran explicitly against the Silicon Valley billionaires funding Majority Democrats and AIPAC, which has funneled $1m to the corporate Dem group's chair.
