I’m so happy! I thought the board on my Warp Core lamp had died, because one day it just stopped working, but it turns out it was actually the USB port on the power strip that went out. It’s been sitting dark for months, and now she’s back!

I will say that in today’s episode, SAM was a little more understandable, but I think that’s a side effect of her character development from the previous episode.

It’s been a complaint of mine for the whole series - I absolutely love the actors and the characters they’re playing, but I feel like it’s kind of vital to the job of a director to make sure line deliveries are audible. You can’t just let actors do whatever they want, you need to guide them.
(Which is ironic considering this episode is focused on Theater performances, and one of the things every stage actor works on is clear diction and learning to project. :D. )
I LIKE all of the characters, I just wish they could give more understandable line deliveries. I don’t have an issue with anyone else as a rule, but I sometimes feel like the audio is mixed/recorded in a way that emphasizes the sibilant sounds, and it comes out a little muddy.
I JUST WISH they could figure out how to get SAM and Tarima to either enunciate more clearly, or find a way to mix the audio so that they’re understandable. Occasionally Holly Hunter has some line deliveries that I kind of need to spend time parsing, as well.
I’ve been largely enjoying Starfleet Academy, but we watched last week’s episode last night, and it had Liz in tears by the end of it. It really was a fabulous episode of television.

Liz just forwarded me a post that there is a MAGA republican incumbent running unopposed for Board of Supervisors in our area, and even though the ability to register by Friday isn’t realistic (considering the filing fees and such), I was still intrigued…. But I live JUUUUST outside the district. 😖

I haven’t felt this clearheaded in goddamn years. It’s like the noise got turned down and I could just THINK. God damn but I’ve missed this.
This is one of those jobs that, if I get it, I’ll likely be doing it for the rest of my life (unless I get fired). I don’t want to go into any details yet, but it does involve mechanical maintenance and yet still manages to use my history of stormwater quality management.
I’d be GREAT at this.

I felt like a million bucks today. I had this top, some high-waisted wide-leg slacks, heeled boots and a grey blazer. I looked FIRE today, and felt like a goddamned professional.
Which is kinda funny since it’s essentially a blue-collar job, but heck yeah.
I think it went well! I got good vibes from the label (as good as can be given that they have to remain stone faced) but they seemed really interested in my answers, and I got some great feedback to my questions. :)
I’ll know more by next week!
I had to take an exam a few months ago to demonstrate basic mechanical, mathematical and reasoning abilities (as well as calculations pertinent to the job) and the fact that I got an interview means I made the cut.
There’s 50 people going for between 6 and 9 positions, so I think chances are good.
