4️⃣/7️⃣ 📚 What is the public domain? It is the vast commons of creative works not protected by copyright. You're free to remix, adapt & build on them. In the US, that includes works published in 1930 or earlier, sound recordings from 1925 or earlier, plus U.S. federal government works from any year.

💪 Protect our archives!

Physical and digital records serve critical roles in society by preserving our history and culture. 🏛️

🌐 The Wayback Machine helps to archive the history of the web, which is critical for @wikipedia.org: without it, link rot erodes the verifiability of information online.

Mickey’s theme song “Minnie’s Yoo Hoo” debuted in Mickey’s Follies (1929) 🎶

When the song appeared in the 1930 comic strip, it wasn’t framed as promotion, but casually referenced, moving from a commercial work to a cultural one, signaling it belonged alongside the era’s most recognizable hits.
