Another Friday, another morning replay of Diana Ratsamee's Eastern Echoes www.kexp.org/shows/easter...
Two ways to pass the Turing test, one infinitely easier than the other
That's mal-rkey
Mambo No. 5 with names of the guests
I appreciate what you're saying but would never underestimate venture capital's ability to mess up an ecosystem
Ah thanks! If the problem is fan-out, I wonder if this might be imposing complexity (or just change) on downstream consumers to solve a problem that is only experienced upstream at the firehose source, which could also use replication or existing tools like NATS to get scale.
Also having built a Lexicon code generator (github.com/agentio/slink), I can imagine a Lexicon-to-Protobuf mapping and a PDS that speaks gRPC
com.atproto.sync.subscribeRepos would easily map to gRPC, and I think there's a lot of effort to get that on QUIC
This is how the inside of my head sounds when I'm working - from Apparat's Midnight in a Perfect World show on #kexp

I looked this up after hearing Iris Kymm on the KEXP Eastern Echoes show last week and... you might want to sit down before listening. youtu.be/9a1QcmpKGP8?...
Marc Polymeropoulos droning on MSNOW
This MF says we should celebrate the fact that US and Israeli intelligence orgs were able to murder so many Iranian leaders yesterday #msnow
If there's any common agreement around that, we still have to decide how we participate in those shared private areas, and I wouldn't want to do that from my public repo. But then, I'm assuming that repos are cheap and that I can easily have one that is dedicated to a shared space.
thanks yeah, to me this "bucket" definition seems more like a Mastodon instance or META in that it's a custodian of shared trust. I wouldn't say that it's like a repo in any way other than having an identity and an API.
One thing that I would like to explore is making the repo the unit of privacy. If I operate a PDS, I can have as many repos as I want and can use caller identity to decide who sees what.

Thought for today: "Show me your flowcharts and conceal your tables, and I shall continue to be mystified. Show me your tables, and I won't usually need your flowcharts; they'll be obvious." - Fred Brooks (1975).
Regional spellings would be fun! I understand that it's like this with Devanagari.
just like @'s pronounced

idk but I think it should be written "รฆtprลtล"
Do you think Sade knew in 1985 that "it's never as good as the first time" would be muzak 40 years later?
You've got to listen to Maya Ongaku and Diana Ratsamee's followup interview or I suppose you could go on living in low-dimensional space #kexp youtu.be/TIUlGjNppa8?...
Here's what I saw standing by the control panel and looking into the studio where Ryli is playing for host Cheryl Waters
This is just me standing next to the great Kevin Suggs as he runs a massive soundboard for Ryli's live on-air show yesterday on #kexp in Oakland.
Silicon Valley stretches out below Black Mountain with snow-capped mountains in the distance
My COROS watch tracked our nearly 18 mile walk and here we can see our 2700 foot climb up Black Mountain
Oops, my watch also says I'm exhausted. I do feel tired and sore but much better than 1%!
And that's a hike
Reaching the top of the Rhus Ridge trail, the sunshine breaks through the trees
A sign points the way to Black Mountain
Good morning!
