As in what makes the difference between a league of their own and Ofmd staying on the air when fans also bought billboards and merch like crazy? Even yuri on ice blew up pretty high in the 2010’s and the movie still got delayed and late cancelled a decade later

Sure, & while it definitely makes sense to point at something that blew up in three seconds + got two unknown actors carrying the Olympic torch, ppl have previously highlighted other successful shows that still got cancelled. It’s maddening & a bit frustrating that this show is the main conversation

I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.

It’s so true and then at the same time I’m like well at least tumblr doesn’t have the one-two day shelf life curse 💀 this place def does still have that problem even though the engagement is more sincere that twt or insta

It’s worth mentioning that this was made by six guys in their dorm room for a sci-fi convention, and all six of them (which includes the creator of Evangelion) would go on to define the anime industry for decades to come.

Definitely the locked tomb series is a pretty good amount of weird toxic in the best ways. I also think the first two seasons of killing eve was cooking. I’ll have to think on more.
