One of my favorite parts of last night’s election results.

The only Democratic talking point should be: we don’t abandon anyone.

Conventional wisdom is a really fascinating phenomenon. We're at the point where "everyone knows" kids were being rushed into inappropriate gender transition.

There are between zero and 10 recorded cases of this happening (depending on your definition of rushed).

As of tonight, licenses of trans people across Kansas are being invalidated en masse, enabling the overnight criminalization of an entire group of people for going about our lives. It’s often said you never know when you’re living through history, so let me assure you: that’s what’s happening now.

Important insight. ALSO, I have no patience (and I mean ZERO) with people who say "they won't ban birth control." They will eventually try BECAUSE WHAT THEY WANT IS TO CONTROL YOUR BODILY AUTONOMY. We need to be proactive about BODILY AUTONOMY IN GENERAL.

I know the response of 'you're causing irreversible harm to children's bodies!' to trans healthcare for kids comes from transphobia, plain and simple.
But it's wild that the same people are never vocal about MUCH more common things that ACTUALLY cause irreversible harm. Take high school football...

I know the Jesse Singals of the world don't care about this hypocrisy, because they don't actually care about children's wellbeing. But it might be an interesting question to put to well-meaning parents who get caught up in the moral panic of it all.

But there's no moral panic around that, no pearl-clutching op-eds every month, no politicians pontificating, because...well, we know why.

Meanwhile, 26.9% of American children play football, which has high and well documented rate of concussion and brain injury. Irreversible harm!!
And we could look at any number of sports and activities (ballet stands out as another one!) that do the same.

Less that 0.1% of American children receive any form of gender affirming care, and the main 'irreversible harm' from pursuing it is that national newspapers will constantly run op-eds about how you're weird, which will probably affect your self-esteem and how people treat you.
