like I can see the argument, don't get me wrong. The idea of having android and iOS both supported is better than only one and infinitely better than having neither.

so the extension, even if I limit it exclusively to chromium derived supported browsers (sorry FF lol), would almost certainly be its own quarantined "app" since it would mostly serve as one of one of those extensions that exist as a glorified quick action menu.

I actually like vite and react-router but I suspect these things are not entirely compatible with react-native.

I guess I could always privilege the web client as this stand-alone entity that is higher polish than the react-native app but this defeats the purpose of the app.

I am going to ask an absolutely fucking cursed question but what would be the least insane way to begin structuring an web application/service that will realistically start as a website, first, and then include (ideally) a web extension and a simple react-native mobile app.

not a linux thing, it’s typically however it got remuxed by your download tool. Sometimes it is really fucked even as an mp4 and you need to run sth like:

ffmpeg -i video.mp4 -c:v libx264 -c:a aac new-name.mp4

ffmpeg -i video.not_mp4_ext -c copy video.mp4

will often work in remuxing into a container that will play friendly with uploads here
