iirc ever since CS5.5 files can be opened without much fuss, although if you used the built in camera tool in later versions it might either delete that or not work then. that's what i remember it being like at least

best you can do for the near future until an open source FLA solution arises (which probably won't be for a while, but i have seen the want for one, and some small efforts) would be to just get a patched version. that's what most people do anyways

nearly lost the file for this one due to corruption but i was able to rescue half of the lineart
