I got my first dev job at the tail end of the financial crisis. The posting had subtle snark, from my boss being exasperated by the flood of terrible submissions. I picked up on that snark and responded in kind. He said that was the only reason I got a call. He was planning to go with someone else.
The pushback you get is wild to me. You are just saying how to improve your odds.
I call this “playing the game” I do it after I get hired too. A short grind of putting in extra hours and extra work to stand out. That goodwill you earn early on compounds and can be cashed in in multiple ways later.

Im guessing there’s no real smoking gun. Probably just a lot of stuff that makes him look bad (as if it would contain anything we don’t already know about him)
He realized he couldn’t ignore it and let our collective short attention spans move on like he is always able to do.
It looks like Quiet UI, an amazing suite of of (very tasteful) web components has been taken down. This is super sad, as @cory.laviska.com has done such great work and I was absolutely loving the style and approach. I hope he is able to continue this work on in some way!
Man, I REALLY dislike the Cursor reviewing UI. Git is perfectly fine for me to review changes. Stop making me do it twice.
