meanwhile the more punk platforms (vrc, resonite, etc) allow for self expression and people make money of gumroad/jinxxy (and alternatives) for being creative

the difference is the motivation.. Facebook is a advertising platform.. to be able to shove as many ads in your face and keep the clickthrough rate high they need a whitewashed, filed down experience that the advertisers see as a "safe" platform
