you can't have a witch hunt about an actual cabal of pedophiles

you cant have a Moral Panic over actual pediatric concentration camps

Their trick is to use the language of extreme response to nonexistent perils, applied to actual real things

One reason Republicans are so laser targeted on trans kids existing, is that trans kids existing requires accepting the bodily autonomy and consent of children.

Which is something republicans absolutely can't do, since they are pedophiles.

Their transphobia and pedophilia is them being consistent

They want to scare people out of posting ICE-critical content, because they know these posts are turning even their supporters against them. But the better option is to take a page out of their playbook and flood the zone.

I had thought at the beginning of the show that they were going to make Kira Nerys canonically gay and was really mad when they didn’t. The Jadzia kiss made up for it a little, but how amazing it would have been to have a queer lead like that. I held on to hope for like the whole first season.

I can still remember sitting cross legged on the floor in front of the TVs. I was in my 20s and been out for years, but to see a kiss like that on Star Trek! It was healing.

I’m glad to hear that. I’m only watching ep 1 now and I’m troubled by this.

I am certain that whenever someone posts about β€œgatekeeping art” or whatever, they’re talking about posting drawings online for clicks. They never mean arranging rocks in the back yard. They never mean whistling to yourself and finding a tune that makes you happy. They never mean napkin doodles.

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

ICE is not broken. It's agents murdering people, taking trophies of victims, using illegal tactics, breaking laws, spreading terror, and leaving death cards are not isolated events, outliers, or accidents. ICE is operating exactly as intended.

Trump-administration officials and MAGA influencers have repeatedly called these activists β€œviolent” and said they are involved in β€œriots.” But the resistance in Minnesota is largely characterized by a conscious, strategic absence of physical confrontation. Activists have made the decision to emphasize protection, aid, and observation. When matters escalate, it is usually the choice of the federal agents. Of the three homicides in Minneapolis this year, two were committed by federal agents.

β€œThere’s been an incredible, incredible response from the community. I’ve seen our neighbors go straight from allies to familyβ€”more than familyβ€”checking in on each other, offering food and rides for kids and all kinds of support, alerting each other if there’s ICE or any kind of danger,” Malika Dahir, a local activist of Somali descent, told me.

If the Minnesota resistance has an overarching ideology, you could call it β€œneighborism”—a commitment to protecting the people around you, no matter who they are or where they came from. The contrast with the philosophy guiding the Trump administration couldn’t be more extreme. Vice President Vance has said that β€œit is totally reasonable and acceptable for American citizens to look at their next-door neighbors and say, β€˜I want to live next to people who I have something in common with. I don’t want to live next to four families of strangers.’” Minnesotans are insisting that their neighbors are their neighbors whether they were born in Minneapolis or Mogadishu. That is, arguably, a deeply Christian philosophy, one apparently loathed by some of the most powerful Christians in America.

One thing I found deeply moving about resistance in the Twin Cities was the universalism of loving your neighbor, the philosophy driving the opposition to the ICE/BP invasion. I couldn't help but notice the contrast with the blood and soil-ism of Miller and Vance. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

MAGA mistook caring about people for weakness, and is uncomfortable seeing that it’s strength.

I’m back upstate now, and snow is just a daily constant. But at least when it’s bad enough to close us, we close all the way.

I taught in NYC for 20 years, but at a high school that drew kids from all over. I’m from upstate and snow doesn’t bother me much, so I always liked the days when it was a handful of teachers and kids and a really chill day.
