Defund the police: something that never really happened, but everybody talked about.
Defund the scientists: something that's actually happening, but almost nobody's talking about in those terms.
This is not good news for the American people, federal agencies, or the rule of law. I'll never understand how these actions--firing people or terminating ("reorganizing") programs--without Congressional action first are not fundamentally unconstitutional...

Interior helped make for a nice weekend, including bikerafting on the Potomac River. Not only did we enjoy National Park Service lands to get out on the river, we saw numerous Bald Eagles, which were recovered from the brink of extinction by the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Thanks Interior!
π₯³ Between all those calls to your reps, protests, and parades, make time to wish the US Fish and Wildlife Service a happy birthday! π₯³

Great to see people are giving the response that is needed. Do not erase our history, especially not the hard parts. It's how we learn to do better and be better.

Sure looks like UT used taxpayer dollars to engage a PR firm on a propaganda push to build public support for seizing our #PublicLands. Sheesh.

Going to have to step away for a while, may not make it back before the ending of the hearing, but I'm not expecting that we'll learn anything more of value here.
Rep. Timmons just said that 35k nonprofits depend entirely on federal funds. (Narrator: This is not true. But 35k [2%] do have >50% of their income from federal funds.)
Also, according to Rep. Timmons, many nonprofit leaders earn millions of dollars per year. (Narrator: this is not true.)
Don't want to get too sidetracked even though the hearing is, but pretty interesting to see the subcommittee chair backtrack on backtracking on her vote for the reconciliation bill...
