Guten Abend!
Guten Abend!
Retired freight dawg and current freight dawg having lunch in Louisville
Back on that other platform, I followed @aerosavvy.com for yearsβ and today I got to have lunch with him! We had great chats about life, the state of the world, and of course the mighty 767. Thanks for a great afternoon, Ken! (Hopefully we can wrangle @ryanhoke.bsky.social to nerd out with us!)
Damn. Bad Bunny put on one HELL of an amazing show. Just wow.
So, I had this crazy idea of making some YouTube videos documenting my build of the 2 meter RC Cub.
If youβre interested, hereβs the playlist. First 2 episodes finished.
Iβm awkward in front of a camera. Be nice! π

Shoot, youβre ALWAYS welcome
Nahh. No hate. Just laugh and make fun of them quietly amongst yourselves. π€£
40 years ago today, we lost seven heroes aboard Challenger. As an astronaut who commanded the space shuttle after this tragedy, I think about them often. Their courage pushed the boundaries of exploration. Today, we remember their sacrifice and the legacy they left behind.
Oh, forgot to ask⦠What are you building?
I built a lot of Guillowβs stuff and a few RCs growing up. College, jobs, family interrupted the hobby. Iβm excited to get back into it.
At OSH, one of the most fascinating seminars I visited was the fabric covering workshops. I plan on watching more of that this year.
I started a YouTube series on the build. Two episodes done. I kinda hate to promote it because Iβm awkward as hell in front of a camera. But I guess Iβll suck it up and post them. LOL.
Iβll bet the two products are similar.
Hope so! I have an old Horizon Hobby Radian powered glider. As soon as it warms up, Iβll get to the flying field and get back in the swing.
Fun! Iβm having a blast getting back into it. Instead of pins, I made a magnetic building board.
Iβm using Polyspan. π

Close! Iβm covering with Polyspan; a bit stronger than Silkspan. Nice thing about poly is it can heat shrink like Monokote.
For dope, Iβm using Deluxe Materials Eze Dope. Itβs water-based with no fumes. I tested it on this Guillowβs plane. Really happy with the results.
Hope I remember how to fly! π
Absolutely!

Started building my Christmas present. Itβs a Dancing Wings 2 meter wingspan J-3 Cub RC (electric motor).
But you don't want too much! βοΈπ

Thanks!
Ha! When I started my Skyliner, I considered replicating the rope grip system. I gave up after considering the small scale and my level of engineering expertise (almost none).
This guyβs ropeway is on a level I canβt even comprehend.
Who wants a scale model Walt Disney World Resortβs Disney Skyliner in their backyard? ππΌββοΈ

Holy COW. Iβm absolutely blown away by this. The working rope grips are mind boggling. Just wow.
Itβs a Doppelmayr system so the gondolas are basically Skyliners with the optional ski racks. Iβm so in awe of this.
Plates of decorated gingerbread, sugar, and snickerdoodle cookies.
A snickerdoodle cookie with βsnickerdoodleβ written with red and green frosting.
We had our family holiday cookie decorating party and dinner tonight. A little late but we got it done!
Thanks! They were fun to build.
Hope thatβs some GOOD soup!
Yep! I built these to get them out of the closet. π€£ I had to relearn how to set up and use my airbrush.
Now Iβm free for the next project: a 2 meter RC J-3 Cub. π
Those were the good ole days!
Thanks! They were fun to build. The boxes have been in my closet for over a decade. Glad to have them finished. LOL
