I have been wondering; was there an equal reaction when high level languages came in? Did those whose careers relief on handcrafted assembly say "but did you make it? How do you know if it's accurate?"

BUT I'VE GOT OTHER THINGS TO DO!!!
February was all about winning. Winning at the BAFTAs. Winning at the Grammys. Winning at the Winter Olympics.
At Isotoma HQ we chatted about...
- The breakfast simplex
- Tool shaped objects
- Telltale signs of AI writing
- Medieval guilds had it figured out

He pauses, looks at me, looks at the computer displaying an online shop, looks back at me.
"Like pornography?" he asks.
Upon reaching our stand I was asked to explain what we did. We had just built the first online supermarket in the UK, for Sainsbury's. I started simply, expecting to go deeper.
"We make websites, your majesty, so that people can find things they want on the internet"
I am suddenly reminded of an interaction I had with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor in 1996.
We were an internet startup, proudly presenting at a local business event in York. He, as then Duke of York, was the visiting luminary, giving the event a veneer of gravitas.
IMG is a project we can all relate to.
If youβre given an injection, anywhere in the NHS, it's likely the person injecting you will use the Injectable Medicines Guide.
We helped the NHS launch a new, improved IMG. Read our case study to learn more...

"Punk"
Cobbled together from (well reviewed) Chi-Fi. Fosi amp (using the TPA3116 chip) and a Fiio CD player/DAC. Just under Β£250 all in (sans speakers, which I already had). I was scared of the audiophile rabbit hole, and am still going to stream 99% of the time, for which I am all in on Sonos already.
Finally able to play my ~1,600 CDs for the first time in over a decade. First one on? Andrew Weatherall: Masterpiece (One O'Clock Drop).

You should definitely subscribe to this. And if you have not already, you should definitely read Matthew's other "memoir", Self and I. You will thank me for both
15^2 seem to be being quite gentle about it, so I guess we'll have to let Anto off. "Certainly unusual" is about as bad as it gets, which is pretty mild by their standards if they disapprove of a clue π
Just got there myself. Is that allowed?!
How's your morning going?

Whereas as today's rather sums them up
I mean, I finished it, but that U is bugging the hell out of me
Someone's going to have to tell me where the U comes from in 16d in today's Guardian Prize

Very much here for "this is what happens when you don't give AI fingers" :D
I am eagerly awaiting it! Some of my favourite books...
Gosh. Lookee here. What a surprise!

A photo of a deck of Brian Eno's Oblique Strategies cards, with one card showing. It reads "Breathe more deeply"
Today's Oblique Strategy feels appropriate for... I dunno... the last ten years?
A photo of an ice cream machine with a sign reading, "Anything is possible with ice cream." Beneath that is a hand lettered sign reading, "No ice cream".
2026 basically
How deep down the AI rabbit hole are you going?!
Still gives me goosebumps

I mean, it's got to be, hasn't it?
Clicks show.
IT IS!
We were only talking about Ablutions the other day. I've not read anything since Undermajordomo Minor, but I thought the first 3 novels were all fantastic... Looking forward to reading this new one
Well discovering this too late fucking sucks
