10 New Sapphic Books You Need to Read from February 2026
The monthly post where I collect the most exciting sapphic releases from the last few weeks.
February is the shortest month so it makes sense that it would sit between two months with strong sapphic releases (if you werenβt looking forward to March already, this is your sign). But with several strong romance/speculative releases, this February wasnβt slacking in content either. ππ

Revisiting Hayley Kiyokoβs Viral Music Video βGirls Like Girlsβ
Does the 2015 billboard-charting smash hit lesbian song stand the test of time?
Haven't had the time to read much sapphic books lately...but I did watch the music video to Hayley Kiyoko's "Girls Like Girls" for the first time. (I might have been living under a rock in the 2010s.) Does this bring back memories for anyone?

Ladyβs Knight Is an Unapologetically Queer Feminist Romp Through Medieval England
What this sapphic romantasy has in style, it sometimes lacks in depth.
I wished Ladyβs Knight had chosen to do anything new or risky with its narrative. Instead, the story is mostly characterized by predictable plot points and twists...A sapphic novel doesnβt have to defy gravity to be great, but at a bare minimum, I do expect it to keep me awake at night. ππ

Nobody in Particular is a Wholesome Sapphic Royalty Romance
With sparkling chemistry and a surprising amount of emotional depth.

15 New Sapphic Books You Need to Read from January 2026
The monthly post where I collect the most exciting sapphic releases from the last few weeks.
Itβs a new year for sapphic books, and weβre starting off with fireworks. From a new Emily R. Austin novel to a sequel to a fan-favorite indigenous fantasy novel to the release of The Persephone Complex (aah!), this January was a great month for sapphic books.ππ

To Shape a Dragon's Breath by Moniquill Blackgoose
To Ride a Rising Storm by Moniquill Blackgoose
Does anyone know what the plan is for the Nampeshiweisit series? Like, is it a duology or trilogy or...? While I love the idea of a sapphic fantasy with dragons, I also like to go into series like these with a sense of where (and when) things end.

A woman with long white hair covers one eye with her gloved hand; her other eye is glowing and red with a crosshair-shaped pupil; streaks of blood run down her face. She wears a black pilotβs suit with gold accents against a yellow and black background.
Text: THE PERSEPHONE EFFECT.
Out now! Our lesbian Greek myth sci-fi continues: come for giant robots and desire so consuming it becomes cannibalism, stay for the terror of turning into your mother. Will Persephone become a god... or a monster?

Joe Abercrombieβs The Devils is a Glorious, Gory, and Action-Packed Adventure
And the sapphic romance between [spoilers] was one of my favorite parts of the story.
I wouldnβt recommend The Devils just for the sapphic romanceβthere isnβt enough focus for thatβbut I also wouldnβt *not* recommend it if youβre looking for a memorable and unique sapphic relationship and don't mind the premise. I will fully admit that I fell in love with the wholesome chemistry. ππ

Today is the release date of two exciting sapphic books! The first is On Sundays She Picked Flowers by Yah Yah Scholfield, a Southern Gothic story of generational trauma and reclamation, while the second is To Ride a Rising Storm, the long-awaited sequel to To Shape a Dragon's Breath!

The 10 Most Popular Femslash Ships on AO3 in 2025
Lesbians donβt flirt. We just make intense eye contact and panic.
Even though Iβm embarrassingly late with this end-of-the-year list, it didnβt feel right to skip this annual tradition on the blog. I also have a little fun trying to predict the future at the end! AO3 always reminds me of how much I love sapphic romance. ππ

My Most Anticipated Sapphic Novels for the First Half of 2026
Donβt miss these 32 must-read sapphic books coming out later this year.
Every year, I sort through dozens of sapphic books (twice!) to find the ones I'm most excited about. This year, I had the pleasure of looking at nearly one hundred new releases. So if you ever hear people saying that sapphic books aren't in vogue, this is proof to the contrary. ππ

Alice's thoughts are real, but Katabasis never seems to be able to escape the shadow of the very institutional culture that it is ostensibly parodying. This might be one of the few novels I've read where I'm viscerally like: This is too close to the action to see the forest for the trees. (3/3)

For a novel that is supposed to be about exposing higher education, Katabasis did not make me hate academia. Instead, it seems almost purposefully designed to make people want to feel included in "knowing the thing," and that confused the messaging for me because how we use metatext matters. (2/3)

Katabasis by R.F. Kuang Front Jacket
Katabasis by R.F. Kuang Hardcover Front and Sprayed Edges
I'm very conflicted about R.F. Kuang's Katabasis. As someone who has actually read Plato's Phaedo, Katabasis very much feels like "Oh my god, that's the thing from [insert text here]!" the book. I'm wondering if anyone from #AcademicSky had a similar first impression. (1/3)
