One of my favorite things about France is the incredible biking infrastructure.

It truly feels like you can go anywhere via bike. We went from town to town around a 25 mile trip around the lake and it was blissful, beautiful, and I could get used to this.

Bonus video of Zooey biking Annecy!

If you are upset over the loss of DEI prove it. Start by shopping at diverse small businesses and by supporting diverse indie writers , artists etc. Support is more than words.

My favorite fact about the NYC subway is that there are way more daily riders (about 4 million) than the number of people who fly in the US out of all airports every day (~2.5 million). The scale is hard to get a grasp on.

Please send a quick email TODAY to council@dnv.org urging them to fully fund the Spirit Trail. This is a huge gap in the North Van cycling network, leaving no safe way for car-free families like mine to get to Deep Cove, Cates Park, and other parts of the region. You don't need to be a DNV resident!

People Power: Unlocking demand for rural walking and cycling routes - FIT A campaign to help communities build local footpaths across the UK.

I'm *so* excited to be working on a project this year to explore how rural communities can help deliver cycling and walking paths near them. So many people want safe active paths, but so much is stacked against them. I want to learn how communities defy the status quo, so others can learn from them.

On this day, 100 yrs ago, cars were given priority over pedestrians in the streets of the US.

It began Jan. 24, 1925, when the 1st "jaywalker" was arrested in Los Angeles.

Until then, it had been a city of walkers, with an extensive street railway network.

Victim shaming started right away...

Our cities constantly fail wheelchair users. Here are just some ways:

*No level boarding for transit
*No elevators in metro stops
*Crumbling sidewalks
*No sidewalk
*Trash cans & parked cars on sidewalk (cities so nothing about)
*Unshoveled sidewalks

How does your city fail?

Tens of thousands of protestors can been seen blocking main streets in the capital
of Serbia, Belgrade. These protests, happening in cities across the country, are again the populist government of Vucic. Close ally of Putin, his government is criticised for corruption and under investment. A disaster in the city of Novi Sad was the catalyst for protests. Many in Serbia believe the huge concrete canopy at a train station in the northern city fell down because of sloppy reconstruction work that resulted from corruption. 15 were killed.

It is the 58th straight day of protests across cities in Georgia. In this photo, 100s of demonstrators are seen in the capital of Tbilisi. Two are carrying a large banner which reads β€œGeorgia is alive & independent.”
Protests are demanding new, free elections, the release of political detainees and membership of the European Union. The current regime is a puppet of Putin and has inflicted violence and torture on its citizens, hundreds of whom have been hospitalised..

The Trump circus dominates the news.

But there’s other events happening too - in countries where people are rising up against governments, fighting for democracy & accountability.

These photos are from Serbia & Georgia today. Capital cities brought to a standstill πŸ‡·πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¬πŸ‡ͺ

One of the things I really appreciate about the bike community here is the general understanding that infrastructure must be be built to accomodate cyclists of all ages, skill levels, and risk tolerances.

In other words, there are far fewer "avid cyclists" here than I encounter on other platforms.
