Seeing a 30 year professional switch to vibe-coding is like watching someone in their forties decide to start smoking.
I fully believe that LLMs may become enmeshed in the toolbox, granted, but autotune is not the music industry and cgi is not the movie industry.

It's practice. Everything is practice.
I have many friends who are excellent programmers and every now and then one will say they've been using Claude to do their work for them and I always die a little inside. It's choosing to give up a skill - to _stop_ being a programmer.
You have to play guitar every day to stay good at it. If you stop playing, your calluses will disappear, and then making chords becomes more difficult. You will lose the muscle memory. You do not keep your skills by listening to other people play.
I believe that everything needs to be continually practiced. You must use the skill for it to remain a skill. When you offload critical thinking, creativity, research, pattern recognition - those abilities wither and thin to ether.
Having ChatGPT summarize things actively makes you stupider. It atrophies your critical thinking and research skills. It turns brains into the humans in Wall-E.

I'm pretty easy through 1500 (though I have to sound out words in my head); 1400 is where I have to concentrate a lot; 1300 feels like actual translation; 1200 might as well be Greek.
